Tester Engineer (Automation)

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Tester Engineer (Automation).

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

A. Facilitate the daily workforce performance in EOLTs and download stations.

B. Responsible for portions of design, development, fabrication, validation, installation and support of production test equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Promotes company’s mission and vision by actively supporting Eaton’s ethics and values as well as quality policies.

B. Procurement of components and materials to construct test equipment in accordance with design.

C. Output: necessary materials for equipment fabrication.

D. Work with suppliers to ensure accurate quotation of equipment. Output: accurate quotations from selected suppliers for price, delivery and technical adequacy.

E. Ensure equipment is fabricated to design specification. Output: test equipment built in accordance with design specification.

F. Develop software for test equipment functionality, including HMI and controls (PLC). Output: a working program that ensures proper test equipment functionality.

G. Evaluate machine / equipment alternatives for replacement or addition to manufacturing facilities. Output: cost effective, capable machines.

H. Participate and/or conduct run-off of new machines / equipment to ensure process capability.

I. Output: completed run-offs with process capability calculation or Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

J. Install equipment at production facilities. Output: functional equipment installed at manufacturing plants.

K. Perform troubleshooting and repair of production test equipment. Output: implemented corrective actions allowing proper equipment usage.

L. Provide technical assistance to project teams (ProLaunch) regarding product design and how this product design can influence test equipment design. Output: product designs that ensure capable manufacturing and assembly processes.

M. Manage project work to meet project timelines and completion of ProLaunch deliverables. Output: deliverables that meet project schedule requirements.

N. Provide technical assistance to manufacturing plants, as requested, to solve test equipment and process problems. Output: implemented corrective actions.

Qualifications:

A. Engineering degree or related fields required.

B. 3 - 5 years’ experience in manufacturing processes (environment preferably automotive)

C. English - language capability, speaking, reading & writing required

D. Broad technical knowledge in the areas of manufacturing processes, quality assurance, plant engineering, production/materials planning, maintenance needs and systems application.

E. Software development engineering

F. Electrical and instrumentation fundamentals

G. Product knowledge

H. Test Equipment design

I. Strong knowledge of drive programming, specifically PowerFlex and Indramat drives.

J. Experience with Welding Processes (welding certifications are highly desirable)

K. Experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robots.

L. Familiarity with Air Leak Testing systems, equipment setup, and validation.

A. This position requires some travel.
