The Engineering Technician’s primary role is to assist Product Engineers (PE) with the development and definition of new manufacturing processes, as well as the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes. An engineering technician is expected to be able to perform all of the tasks of a production operator (producer) for assigned programs.\nResponsibilities include:\nProvide daily hands-on support to Engineering or other personnel.Assist PEs with design, develop and validation of PROCESSES for SAFELY producing products that meet the requirements of a Technical Data Package.\nAssist PEs with Process Hazard Anlalysis (PHA) in accordance Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures.\nSupport/Lead Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews w/ guidance from PE\nAssist PEs by providing input during requirements reviews of Technical Data Packages (TDP).\nAssist PEs by providing input during design for manufacturability reviews.\nAssist PEs with the design and layout of new and/or modified production cells/processes.\nSpecify, design, procure and/or fabricate (w/ PE guidance): equipment, tooling, fixturing, and assembly aids for use in production processes.\nAssist PEs with testing of product.\nAssist PEs with trouble shooting of equipment and/or process failures.\n\nDuties may include mixing, casting, extrusion, pressing, testing, loading, assembly and packaging for assigned products (must know how to do any tasks typically assigned to a producer within areas of responsibility).\nWith guidance from the PE, be able to create, update and maintain manufacturing documentation including: Manufacturing Instructions (MI),\nProcess Specifications (PS),\nInspection Plans (IP) and\nPackaging Instructions (PI).\n\nTrain producers to work within process per manufacturing documentation.\nPerform production cell set-up and change-overs.\nParticipate in continuous improvement activities such as kaizen.\nLearn and use lean manufacturing tools (w/ guidance from PE) such as:Creating and maintaining Standard Work packages\nProblem Solving\nPFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis)\nDeveloping ways to mistake proof a process (Poke Yoke)\n\nData entry and analysis on various product or processes characteristics. \nPerform inspections and other checks to verify conformance to requirements.\nParticipate in significant projects, such as, construction and new facility startup.\nAssume additional responsibilities necessary to achieve company goals.\nOccasional off-site travel may be required. \nPre-requisites: \nHigh school diploma or general education degree (ED)\nAND\na minimum of 15 college credit hours,\nOR\napproximately 5 years related manufacturing experience and/or training,\nOR\nMilitary service/training in related fields\nOR\nor equivalent combination of education and experience. \nPreferred skills:\nMechanical Aptitude.\nAbility to interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications. \nKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. \nExperience using Autocad or Solidworks or other CAD-type software. \nComputing skills (ie MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, Zoom, MS project, MS Visio).\ninterpersonal communication skills.\nExperience w/ basic lab procedures (ie wet chemistry, environmental testing, reporting of test results, etc).\nCNC programming and machining.\nTime management skills\nExperience with lab equipment including, but not limited to: precision weight scales, graduated cylinders, and calipers/micrometers.\nEnsign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
