This role is responsible for delivering operational performance across procurement, materials planning, inventory control, and logistics, supporting both electronics and energetics programs.\nReporting to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain, this leader will manage a team of managers and supervisors and operate within a matrixed organization, partnering closely with Category Management, Supplier Development, Quality, and Operations.\nThis is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring material availability, supplier performance, and operational execution in a complex, highly regulated aerospace and defense Industries.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLeadership & Organization\nLead and develop a multi-layered organization including Purchasing, Materials Planning, and Logistics managers and their teams\nBuild a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement\nDrive clarity of roles and alignment across a matrixed supply chain organization\nExecutional Supply Chain Ownership\nOwn site-level execution of procurement, planning, inventory, and logistics operations\nEnsure seamless material flow from suppliers through production and to customer delivery\nBalance competing priorities across development programs and production commitments\nProcurement Execution & Supplier Performance\nOversee execution of procurement across $100M+ annual spend in low-volume/high-mix aerospace and defense programs\nPartner with Category Leads and Supplier Development to align sourcing strategies with execution\nAct as escalation point for supplier delivery, quality, and performance issues\nPlanning & Inventory Management\nLead demand and supply planning processes, ensuring alignment with production and program schedules\nDrive improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and material availability\nEnsure strong inventory control processes, achieving high accuracy and efficient working capital management\nLogistics & Material Flow\nOversee inbound/outbound logistics, warehousing, and material handling operations\nEnsure safe and compliant handling of regulated materials (including energetics)\nOptimize material flow, storage, and transportation efficiency\nCross-Functional & Matrix Leadership\nCollaborate closely with:Category Management (sourcing strategy)\nSupplier Development & SQE (supplier performance)\nQuality & Compliance (regulatory adherence)\nOperations & Engineering (program execution, NPI)\n\nInfluence without direct authority across functions to drive outcomes\nCompliance & Governance\nEnsure adherence to FAR/DFAR, ITAR, AS9100, CPSR, DOT, IATA, ATF, and internal policies\nSupport audits and ensure procurement system integrity\nContinuous Improvement & Transformation\nLead initiatives to improve OTD, cost, inventory turns, and process efficiency\nImplement lean practices, visual management, and KPI-driven performance routines (e.g., Gemba walks, visual management)\nSupport site and enterprise-level transformation initiatives\nQualifications:\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field\n10+ years of supply chain experience in aerospace & defense or regulated manufacturing\nProven experience managing managers (leader-of-leaders experience required) 5-7 years of experience\nStrong background across procurement, planning, and logistics (end-to-end supply chain)\nExperience operating in a matrixed organization\nPreferred:\nMBA or advanced degree\nCPSM, CPIM, PMP, or Lean/Six Sigma certification\nProcess Design, Problem solving & Lean tools\nExperience with IFS or similar ERP systems\nExperience supporting R&D to production transitions\nBackground in complex machining, electronics or energetics\nEnsign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
