The role involves close collaboration with SRE, platform, and application teams and provides opportunities to work with modern tooling, large-scale distributed systems, and experienced engineering teams.\nWhat you will accomplish:\nDesign, build, and maintain services and tools that manage and optimize traffic flow using Java, C++, or Go.\n\nImprove network security by implementing secure service communication, routing controls, hardening, and policy enforcement.\n\nDeploy, operate, and troubleshoot services running on Kubernetes across distributed environments.\n\nImprove system latency and throughput through efficient architecture, profiling, benchmarking, and performance tuning.\n\nUse logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver reliability improvements.\n\nPartner with SRE, platform, and application teams to integrate traffic and networking solutions safely and effectively.\n\nBuild experience with modern infrastructure, large-scale systems, and traffic engineering while benefiting from mentorship and growth opportunities.\n\nWhat you will bring:\nA Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus 2+ years of relevant experience in networking/traffic engineering, platform, infrastructure, or related work.\n\nProficiency in Java, C++, or Go, including knowledge of data structures, concurrency fundamentals, and debugging.\n\nUnderstanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, and TLS.\n\nUnderstanding of Linux and distributed systems fundamentals.\n\nExperience with Kubernetes, containers such as Docker, and service-to-service networking.\n\nFamiliarity with technologies such as Envoy, NGINX, or HAProxy and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.\n\nExperience with performance profiling, benchmarking, or latency reduction; exposure to point-of-presence (PoP), edge, or global traffic-steering concepts is beneficial.\n\nBenefits\nCompetitive salary and benefits.\n\nMentorship and growth opportunities.\n\nExposure to modern tooling and large-scale systems.\n\nAdditional Details\neBay is an equal opportunity employer.
