Several new engineering positions are being opened within Shipping Domain in our Dreilinden office located in the greater Berlin area. We are looking for a Sr. Back-end Engineer who will be part of the Global Shipping team and who can help us build exciting products at eBay.\nEvery day, millions of users sell and ship their wares using eBay. Our team supports this diverse community by building shipping products around the globe, helping individual sellers and small businesses to meet the growing expectations of online buyers. We are a product-oriented team, we move fast, and stay curious.\nYou will be working on new experiences for millions of customers. You will lead the development of modern Java/Spring Boot based web applications by developing system designs, helping define the technical roadmap, guiding the team on all technical aspects, and implementing code. You will report to a Sr. Manager of engineering, as well as work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub.\nIt’s a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, transparent and highly technical team culture.\neBay requires employees to be present in the Dreilinden office three days per week.\nWhat you will accomplish:\nTranslate open product problem into a designed cross-component solution\n\nContribute to the design and development of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.\n\nParticipate in architectural discussions to drive system-level decisions and innovative solutions.\n\nCreate design documents and technical specifications for key projects.\n\nBreak down the work into meaningful milestones and provisioning estimations\n\nDevelop and maintain server-side applications using Javaand SpringBoot.\n\nWrite clean, efficient, and well-documented code, following coding standards and guidelines.\n\nConduct and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency.\n\nWork closely with product managers, and other engineers to deliver features and improvements.\n\nDevelop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.\n\nIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues\n\nWhat you will bring:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or similar technical degree, with 9+ years of experience designing and developing highly scalable web applications.\n\nProven experience building scalable backend systems with Java / Spring Boot.\n\nExperience building RESTful APIs and implementing microservices architectures.\n\nProficiency in working with relational databases and/or NoSQL databases\n\nBasic understanding of modern UX frameworks like React.js\n\nExperience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines and knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies\n\nProficiency in writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests\n\nHaving work experience with Kotlin and Prometheus Query Language is a plus\n\neBay requires employees to be present in the Dreilinden office three days per week\n\nAdditional Details\neBay is an equal opportunity employer.
