The incumbent provides technical support to field\noperations, monitors construction progress, and assists in resolving technical\nchallenges encountered during project execution.\nThe Tunnel Field\nEngineer is responsible for coordinating construction activities related to\ntunnelling operations and works closely with superintendents and subcontractors\nto ensure production targets, project schedules, quality standards, and health\nand safety requirements are achieved.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nConstruction\nCoordination\nProvide technical coordination and supportfor tunnelling activities within the assigned work area.\n\nCollaborate with Superintendents,Forepersons, and subcontractors to ensure construction activities are\nexecuted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project schedule.\n\nParticipate in construction planning andidentify potential site constraints and operational risks.\n\nMonitor daily work progress andproductivity.\n\nPrepare and maintain accurate site reports, production records,and technical documentation.\n\nAttend and contribute to daily and weekly coordinationmeetings.\n\nTechnical Support\nProvide day-to-day technical support toconstruction crews.\n\nEnsure construction activities comply withapproved drawings, methods, specifications, and procedures.\n\nMonitor and track installed quantities andproduction metrics.\n\nParticipate in inspections, testingactivities, and quality control processes.\n\nIdentify technical risks that may impactcost, schedule, safety, or quality objectives.\n\nAssist in the preparation and evaluationof change orders, claims, and variation requests.\n\nEngineering and\nDocumentation\nPrepare and manage Requests forInformation (RFIs).\n\nAssist the Project Manager in developingconstruction methods, work procedures, and technical documentation.\n\nCoordinate technical interfaces betweenengineering, construction teams, consultants, and clients.\n\nInvestigate and help resolve engineeringand construction issues encountered in the field.\n\nMaintain project records and ensuredocumentation is up to date and properly filed.\n\nHealth, Safety and\nEnvironment\nPromote a strong safety culture and ensureall work is performed in accordance with project Health and Safety\nrequirements.\n\nParticipate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs),Safe Work Plans, and pre-task planning activities.\n\nVerify that approved work methods andsafety procedures are implemented in the field.\n\nReport unsafe acts and conditions andparticipate in incident investigations when required.\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in civil engineering,Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\nMinimum of three (3) years of experiencein tunnel construction projects.\n\nExperience with one or more tunnellingmethods including:\n\nConventional tunnelling methods\nNew Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)\nTunnel Boring Machine (TBM)\nMicrotunnelling\nStrong understanding of constructiondrawings, specifications, and contract documents.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.\nExperience with Primavera P6, MicrosoftProject, AutoCAD, and/or Bluebeam is considered an asset.\n\nStrong organizational, planning, andproblem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to work effectively in afast-paced construction environment.\n\nAbility to work rotating day and nightshifts, as well as weekends when required.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communicationskills.\n\nDESIRED PROFILE\nStrong attention to detail and commitmentto quality.\n\nSelf-motivated and proactive.\nTeam-oriented with strong interpersonalskills.\n\nAdaptable and responsive in a dynamic construction environment.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiplepriorities and meet deadlines.\n\nFluency in English, both written andspoken, is essential.\n\nFrench language skills are considered astrong asset.\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nWork is performed in active tunneling andunderground construction environments.\n\nExposure to confined spaces, undergroundconditions, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.\n\nDay, night, and weekend shifts may berequired based on operational needs.\n\nValid driver's license required.\nGeographic mobility and willingness torelocate for future project assignments are considered assets.\n\nBenefits\n4 weeks of annual vacation;\nFlexible group insurance program upon entry (health and dental components paid by the employer);\nGroup RRSP with employer contribution to a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP);\n24 hour access to a virtual doctor (telemedicine);\nTraining and development programs;\nEmployee assistance program;\nActive social club and health and wellness committee;\nDiverse, innovative and stimulating environment;\nA company built on values of respect, integrity and a job well done;\nFirm recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.\nIn accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is$90,000 - $140,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity.
