Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).\nEchodyne is seeking a Instructional Designer to join our fast-growing team. \nRESPONSIBILITIES\nConduct audience, needs, task, and performance analyses for radar hardware and software training.\nObserve field deployments or customer training to understand the Solutions Engineer workflow firsthand.\nDevelop role-based curricula and learning paths for customers, including onboarding, product releases, and continuing education.\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, accurate, and approachable instruction.\nCreate asynchronous courses, interactive modules, product simulations, scenario-based exercises, assessments, labs, job aids, and field-reference materials.\nDesign training that connects software workflows with hands-on hardware activities, including installation, configuration, calibration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\nWrite measurable learning objectives and align content, practice activities, and assessments with those objectives.\nPartner with engineers, product managers, Solutions Engineers, support teams, technical writers, and other subject-matter experts to gather and validate content.\nCollaborate with the video content developer on scripts, storyboards, demonstrations, animations, and other instructional media.\nEstablish templates, standards, and repeatable development processes for the training program.\nManage course content through review, publication, version control, and product-lifecycle updates.\nEvaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessment results, field-readiness indicators, and stakeholder input.\nRecommend improvements based on performance data, product changes, customer needs, and lessons learned in the field.\nManage multiple projects and release-driven deadlines while maintaining technical accuracy and instructional quality.\nREQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree in instructional design, learning sciences, educational technology, engineering education, technical communication, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.\nThree or more years of experience designing professional or technical training.\nDemonstrated experience developing asynchronous e-learning and performance-support materials.\nWorking knowledge of adult-learning principles and instructional design approaches such as ADDIE, SAM, backward design, and Bloom’s Taxonomy.\nProficiency with an e-learning authoring platform such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or an equivalent tool.\nExperience creating meaningful assessments, hands-on exercises, and scenario-based learning.\nExperience working with engineers or other technical subject-matter experts.\nAbility to understand unfamiliar technical systems and explain them accurately to different audiences.\nStrong project-management skills and the ability to work independently in a product-driven environment.\nDESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills) \nExperience developing training for integrated hardware and software products.\nBackground in radar, RF systems, sensors, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, robotics, industrial equipment, or another complex technical field.\nFamiliarity with networking, system integration, data visualization, command-line tools, APIs, or cloud-connected applications.\nExperience designing hardware labs, software simulations, troubleshooting scenarios, or technical certification programs.\nExperience with video-production or visual-design tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, or similar platforms.\nFamiliarity with accessibility standards and inclusive learning design.\nExperience supporting field engineers, Solutions Engineers, customer enablement, or technical support organizations.\nA degree or professional certification in instructional design, learning and development, or a related discipline.\nEchodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations.
