This role focuses on developing and implementing engineering policies and procedures while collaborating with Applications, Project Management, Mechanical & Controls Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. The manager ensures profitability and successful project execution in line with the Eclipse Vision and Entrepreneurial Culture.\n\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nProject Engineering:\nLead and manage the Project Engineering function within the Automation business unit, providing direction to senior technical staff.\nEnsure contractual communication is clear and fully understood, facilitating smooth handover of information from the PMO to the engineering team using the ‘Open Book Project Communication’ method.\nOrganize and prioritize project engineering activities, ensuring timely delivery of project documents and milestones.\nCollaborate with key stakeholders to ensure contract deliverables are met and project designs are approved prior to manufacturing.\nDevelop and maintain department workflows and strategies to support growth, innovation, and technical excellence within the team.\nRegularly assess department performance against business goals and implement KPIs to drive continuous improvement.\nStay updated on industry trends, design standards, and technological advancements to enhance the department's innovation capacity.\nManage department budgets, ensuring funds are allocated effectively to maintain profitability.\nCollaborate with Human Resources to assess staffing needs and ensure the department has the right skillsets to handle future project demands.\nUnder the direction of senior leadership, establish and implement short and long term departmental goals and objectives that support overall corporate objectives\nUnderstand the business needs and prioritize efforts and strategy accordingly\nConduct interviews as needed for direct reporting hires to ensure proper skillsets are being met\n\nLeadership:\nFoster positive relationships within the department and with other teams, promoting a collaborative working environment.\nConduct regular meetings with direct reports to review project status, team performance, and future planning.\nProvide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and support career growth\nOversee the performance review process for all direct reports, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals.\nCommunicate expectations clearly to team members, delegate tasks effectively, and drive process improvements to increase efficiency.\nEnsure adherence to industry quality, safety, and reliability standards within the Automation industry.\nEnsure concepts meet Eclipse Automation and customer expectations\nFoster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business\n\nProject Execution:\nEnsure all project milestones are met and provide regular updates on project status to the Director of Engineering.\nMaintain a high standard of professional written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.\nAct as a corporate citizen, upholding Eclipse Automation’s ethical standards and Project Operating Policy.\n\nTravel:\nExpectation of travel to Eclipse locations is less than 20% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet organizational needs\n\nWhat We're Looking For: \nEducation:\nUniversity Degree Engineering / Robotics Automation\nOntario P.Eng license is preferred, eligibility for P.Eng license is required\nFormal project management training through PMI or equivalent, PMP is an asset\n\nExperience:\n10+ years of experience in the automation industry\n5+ years of increasing responsibility in an engineering capacity\nFamiliarity with applicable codes/standards from various regions (Canada, US, Europe),\nProven leadership skills, providing direct employee oversight and coaching\nComputer skills required, including MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ERP Software\nWhat We Offer:\nReimbursement for tuition and professional dues\n4 weeks of vacation and 3 paid personal days (to start)\nRRSP matching program\nFree snack program\n\nWhy Join Us:\nHere at Eclipse Automation, creation and innovation are at our core, and our culture reflects that.
