Working within our IT Cooling Design Engineering team, you will apply thermal, fluid, and mechanical engineering principles to assist with product design, engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, and documentation activities. These costs are covered by CoolIT and are enacted from your first day. \nDress for your day - in a casual yet professional environment. \nCompany-funded RRSP contributions to support your long-term financial goals. \n Annual professional development allowance to support your ongoing learning, skill development, and career growth. \nWhat You Will Do\nSupport the design and development of thermal-mechanical products and components, including passive cold plates, coolant distribution manifolds, and modular cooling system assemblies, with guidance from senior engineers.\nAssist with product development activities from concept through production, including design studies, prototype builds, design verification, risk assessments, and engineering change implementation.\nCreate and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and related documentation in accordance with company standards, GD&T practices, and DFM requirements.\nPerform engineering calculations, thermal, fluid flow, and structural analyses, and support laboratory testing, data collection, and analysis to validate product performance.\nCollaborate with testing, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support design reviews, investigate technical issues, and implement engineering solutions.\nContribute to solving engineering challenges involving heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mechanical design, simulation, and product validation while developing technical knowledge and practical engineering skills.\nGrow your technical and professional expertise through hands-on product development, mentorship from experienced engineers, and exposure to advanced liquid cooling technologies for high-performance computing and data center applications.\nPosition Details(if applicable)\nTravel: Minimal travel may be required based on business needs.\nCandidate must reside in or willing to relocate to: Calgary, AB or surrounding area\nWork location: Hybrid, up to 50 days WFH a year\nWork week and shift: Full-time, standard business hours\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nUnderstanding of core mechanical engineering principles, including:\nGeometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)\nTolerance stack-up and statistical tolerance analysis\nMechanism design and analysis\nFinite Element Analysis (FEA)\nDesign for Manufacturing (DFM)\nDesign Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)\nProduct Lifecycle Management (PLM)\nEngineering testing, validation, and root cause analysis\nProficient in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks) to create production-ready models and drawings, perform analyses, and optimize design performance.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMinimum 0~3 years of experience in thermal-mechanical product development.\nProven experience designing mechanical components and assemblies for mass production using multiple manufacturing processes.\nStrong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and cooling system design.\nExperience designing products for or working in high-volume manufacturing environments.\nEngineering-in-Training (EIT) designation or equivalent professional accreditation.\nMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering, Thermal Mechanical Engineering specializing in Fluid Dynamics, or a related field.\nDuring pre-screening, we may use an AI tool, supported by human oversight, to efficiently manage tasks such as resume screening and/or interview scheduling.
