This role requires a strong mechanical background with a high level of proficiency in CAD and creating technical engineering drawings.\nWhat’s in it For You\nDay 1 Coverage: Employer-paid comprehensive benefits, including dental, prescription drug, vision, paramedical coverage, and a $1,000 annual Health Spending Account.\nRRSP: 2% employer-sponsored contribution.\nEnjoy three weeks of vacation, six flex days, and a one-week paid company-wide holiday shutdown.\n$1,000 Annual professional development allowance to support your ongoing learning, skill development, and career growth.\nDress for your day in a casual, professional environment.\nWork in a hybrid environment.\nWhat You Will Do\nDesign, model, and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) using SolidWorks.\nCreate and maintain detailed engineering drawings and product design collaterals to communicate design intent, performance, and recommendations.\nConduct design reviews focusing on design functionality, performance, cost, and manufacturability.\nSelect components and work with quality and supply chain teams to qualify vendors and suppliers to ensure all components are high quality, reliable, meet compliance requirements.\nBuild, test, and evaluate component and assembly prototypes, incorporating findings to optimize thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical performance.\nSupport product lifecycle and change management processes by preparing Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and other technical documentation.\nCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and industry partners to ensure successful project execution.\nPosition Details\nThis position is located at Cool IT’s Quarry Park office in Calgary, Alberta. Up to 10% travel (domestic and international) may be required.\nMinimum Qualifications\nDiploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or equivalent.\nMinimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience, with at least 3 years related to the design or manufacture of physical products or hardware.\nProficiency using 3D CAD software for modelling and creation of engineering technical drawings.\nEffective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSkilled at modelling complex 3D parts and creating and maintaining large assemblies in 3D CAD systems, particularly using Solidworks.\nExperience in design of electromechanical and fluid-mechanical systems, electrical cabinets, and piping assemblies.\nExperience with component selection with strict technical and regulatory compliance requirements; particularly with respect to valves, seals, pumps, sensors, piping, or HVAC and fluid transfer.\nExperience with creating technical engineering drawings using both plus/minus tolerancing and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).\nExperience with Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and component design for high-volume manufacturing using sheet metal, machining, welding, casting, and injection molding processes.\nExperience with assembly design for high-volume production; Design for Assembly (DfA) analysis, RSS statistical tolerance analysis, Poke-Yoke, etc.\nExperience with product data management (PDM), product lifecycle management (PLM), and engineering change management.
