We are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to design, analyze, and support the delivery of structural projects across our building, institutional, industrial, and resource-sector work, serving clients from coast to coast.\nThis is a hands-on technical role for a structural engineer who is comfortable carrying a design from concept through construction documents and into the field. You will develop structural designs and calculations, prepare drawings and specifications, support tendering and construction administration, and collaborate closely with PRI's civil, geotechnical, and environmental teams, while building toward greater project ownership and mentoring junior staff.\nThe structural practice serves municipalities, institutional and industrial clients, developers, and resource-sector clients, delivering new building design, renovation and retrofit, structural assessments, and construction support across projects located in every region PRI operates in.\nWho this role is for\nYou are a structural engineer with a solid design foundation who is ready to take on more project responsibility: someone who can develop a structural design independently, stand behind their calculations, and coordinate confidently with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines. You are equally comfortable at a workstation running an analysis model as you are on a site visit reviewing construction progress, and you take real satisfaction in seeing a design you worked on get built.\nWhat you'll do\nStructural design and analysis\nDesign and analyze structural systems in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry for new buildings, additions, renovations, and industrial structures, using CSA and National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) requirements as the baseline across all provinces served.\nPerform structural modeling and analysis using software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, STAAD.Pro, or RAM, and independently check and interpret the results.\nCarry out structural assessments and condition evaluations of existing buildings and structures, including load rating, seismic evaluation, and retrofit design.\nPrepare structural design calculations and design briefs that meet PRI's quality standards and applicable building code and client requirements in the project's jurisdiction.\nConstruction documents and contract administration\nPrepare structural drawings, details, and specifications for tender and construction, using AutoCAD and/or Revit, and coordinate them with architectural and other engineering disciplines' drawings.\nRespond to requests for information, review shop drawings and submittals, and issue field review and site instruction documentation during construction.\nConduct site visits and field reviews during construction to confirm the work conforms to the structural design intent, and document findings for the project record.\nSupport tendering and bid evaluation by preparing structural scopes, quantities, and technical input for construction cost estimates.\nProject and client coordination\nAct as a day-to-day technical contact for clients, architects, and contractors on assigned projects, keeping project schedules and budgets on track.\nCollaborate with PRI's civil, geotechnical, and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects, coordinating structural design with site, foundation, and environmental constraints.\nTravel to project and construction sites across Canada as project needs require, including occasional work outside the home province.\nContribute to proposals, fee estimates, and scopes of work for structural assignments.\nTechnical development and mentorship\nMentor and review the work of junior engineers, EITs, and drafters, and support their development toward professional registration.\nParticipate in internal design reviews and quality assurance/quality control checks on structural deliverables before they go to clients or regulators.\nStay current with changes to the National Building Code of Canada, provincial code variations, and relevant CSA standards, and share that knowledge with the broader structural team.\nContribute to building PRI's structural design standards, templates, and tools as the practice grows nationally.\nWho we're looking for\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, and registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in at least one Canadian province.\nMinimum 4-7 years of structural engineering experience, with a demonstrated record of independently designing structural systems for buildings or industrial structures.\nWorking proficiency with structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, STAAD.Pro, or RAM, and with AutoCAD and/or Revit for drawing production.\nSolid working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and the structural CSA standards (CSA S16 for steel, CSA A23.3 for concrete, CSA S304 for masonry, and CSA O86 for wood), with the ability to apply provincial code variations.\nExperience preparing construction documents and supporting construction administration, including site reviews and response to field conditions.\nValid driver's license and willingness to travel to project and construction sites across Canada, including occasional multi-day trips.\nPreferred\nExperience across more than one building type or sector, such as institutional, industrial, resource-sector, or municipal infrastructure projects.\nProfessional Engineer registration, or demonstrated eligibility for registration by mobility, in more than one Canadian province.\nExperience with seismic design or seismic retrofit of existing structures.\nFamiliarity with Revit-based multidisciplinary coordination and BIM workflows.\nDemonstrated interest or early experience mentoring junior engineers or EITs.\nWhy PRI\nThe opportunity to carry structural projects from design through construction across a genuinely national portfolio of work.\nA collaborative environment that connects structural engineering with civil, geotechnical, environmental, and geomatics disciplines across the firm.\nA clear path toward greater project ownership, multi-jurisdictional registration support, and senior technical roles as PRI's structural practice grows.\nExposure to a wide range of project types and sectors rather than a single building type or client base.\nCompetitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and genuine support for ongoing professional development and professional designation costs.\nPRI is an equal-opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, and we encourage applications from Indigenous professionals.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7137,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Professional development"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Canada","iso":"CA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Civil & Structural Engineering","Environmental Science","Engineering Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-11-06T00:24:57Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":40,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-11-06T05:58:05Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/ecora-intermediate-structural-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/ecora-intermediate-structural-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-06T22:54:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1621,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-07T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1131539},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1131539"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fecora-intermediate-structural-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fecora-intermediate-structural-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fecora-intermediate-structural-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/ecora-intermediate-structural-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fecora-intermediate-structural-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3844983}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"ecora.ca","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3844983},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
