In addition, this position will perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle. Additional responsibilities will include assistance with creating SOP and other shipping related documentation as needed. This position requires routine attendance to departmental, safety and company meetings.\n\nPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: \nSafe and legal operation of a commercial motor vehicle. \nSafe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination.\nProper loading and unloading of freight with mechanical freight handling equipment as required, assuring safety and minimal risk of damage to cargo and danger to people.\nHook and unhook trailers from the tractor itself or from convertor dollies, including pushing and/ or pulling dollies into place and cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers and/ or the front support on convertor dollies.\nInspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submit report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip.\nFueling and general light maintenance of vehicle.\nCommunication with customers, vendors, and company personnel regarding scheduling and future requirements.\nCheck shipping/transportation papers to determine the nature of load and to check for the presence of hazardous materials.\nEnsure that all shipment documentation required to move with shipment is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.\nMaintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations.\nReport all accidents and/ or incidents involving driver or company equipment.\nAttend meetings as required.\n\nQualifications & Requirements:\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nReasonable English fluency (read, write, speak) required.\nMust possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.\nA minimum of two years of on-the-road tractor trailer driving experience is required.\nMust have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.\nMust meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Department of Transportation.\nAbility to communicate effectively.\nAbility to work with little supervision.\nMust be able to work a flexible schedule to meet operational requirements, to include occasional overnight requirements.\n\nWork Environment: \nThe work environment characteristics below are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.\nManufacturing Environment: This position may operate in a manufacturing setting with conditions of high-pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous gas/chemical fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, exposure to dangerous machinery, dirty work environment and/or exposure to dust (pigment). The position is required to wear PPE including, but not limited to safety glasses, steel toe/composite boots and earplugs. \nPhysical and Mental Demands: \nThe demands described are representative but not all inclusive of those demands that must be met by an employee (with or without reasonable accommodation) to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.\n\nProlonged periods of standing, walking, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting, pounding, pushing and/or pulling.
