As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with EDC, you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of their engineering discipline, and a strong understanding of the other disciplines offered by the company while also leading and managing the full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes.\nDeliver Mechanical Engineering design packages across all project stages, ensuring outputs are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements and relevant standards.\nUndertake Mechanical design work as required, contributing technical input from concept through to construction.\nTake responsibility for the delivery of defined engineering packages, ensuring quality, adherence to programme, and coordination with other disciplines.\nCoordinate design activities within project teams, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to support overall project delivery.\nApply sound engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges of moderate complexity within assigned scope.\nIdentify and communicate technical risks and issues to the project lead, supporting their resolution.\nMaintain quality control of own work and contribute to consistency across project outputs.\nProvide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers, assisting in their technical development.\nSupport the planning and organisation of work within their area of responsibility, with the opportunity to develop experience in broader project planning and coordination.\nAssist BIM and modelling teams in producing coordinated 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.\nAttend design meetings, workshops, and site visits as required.\nEngage with clients and stakeholders as required, communicating clearly on technical matters.\nWork collaboratively with internal teams and across disciplines to support coordinated project delivery.\nSupport the implementation of new systems, tools, and processes where required.\nMaintain and promote the professional reputation of EDC in all interactions.\nCollaborate with colleagues across EDC offices where appropriate to support project delivery.\nDemonstrate a willingness to continue developing technical capability and broader project understanding in line with career progression.\nFollow EDC’s Environmental Management System (EMS), including all related policies, procedures, and training.\nPerform duties in a manner that supports the company’s environmental objectives and sustainability commitments.\nWork-from-home arrangements to be agreed with the line manager, with an expectation of three days in the office and flexibility to balance business and personal needs.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\nMinimum Degree level in Mechanical Engineering\n6 + years Building Services Consultancy Design experience.\nExpert user of Microsoft Office\nExperience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, dynamic energy modelling software advantageous.\nCommercial sector knowledge and BIM experience a strong advantage.\nChartership Desirable.\nKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS\nProven experience of delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle.\nExpert knowledge and experience in the following Mechanical design areas: Water Services, Heating / LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, above- ground drainage and BMS.\nDeep knowledge of Irish building regulations, particularly TGD part B, F, G, L and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in design and project lead.\nExcel at working on several projects simultaneously and show the ability to prioritise and plan work.\nAbility to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performances, including satisfied clients, profitable projects, and maintaining EDC’s reputation to enable repeat work.\nDemonstrate a good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings.\nExhibit leadership qualities while working as part of a team.\nAbility to make prompt, disciplined project decisions.\nExcellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.\nCommercial Awareness.\nBENEFITS\nCompetitive Salary\nPaid Overtime / Time In Lieu / Flexitime\nPerformance & Development Management, including Annual salary reviews and Annual Performance related Bonus Payment \nAnnual Wellbeing Payment\nCompany Matched Pension Scheme & Death in Service\nIndustry Leading 28 Days Leave\nEducational & Masters Support \n1 extra week’s paid leave on reaching 5th Anniversary\nChartership Pathway & Paid Membership Fees\nEngineering Excellence Weekend (Weekend with Team EDC Team) - Previous locations include Killarney, Edinburgh, Bantry, Brighton, Aran Islands. \nEmployee Assistance Programme\nAnnual Health Checks\nFlexible & Remote working all year round\n1 month continuous remote working from any location, once a year.
