This role involves concept development, analysis, prototyping, and design validation using cutting-edge 3D CAD and simulation tools. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, hands-on experience, and a collaborative mindset to support innovative product development and continuous improvement.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nUse 3D CAD modeling software to create opto-mechanical concepts for innovative systems\nDesign, develop, analyze, document and support testing of robust, precision opto-mechanical/mechanical components and assemblies\nConduct analysis (tolerance, thermal, structural, optical, etc.) using appropriate tools for the job. Leverages engineering tools such as CAD, Optical Modeling and FEA software to design components and systems\nPerform engineering analysis to understand how loads and environmental factors affect performance of systems and components, especially optomechanical lens assemblies and components\nParticipate in design reviews and support to improve existing products (problem-solving, development of next generation, support to production team)\nPerform troubleshooting and root cause analysis using engineering/physics principles.\nProcess development to ensure design intent and manufacturability\nGenerate supporting data packs/artefacts of designed optical components and systems\nProvide technical oversight and task delegation as appropriate\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum 5 years of experience in opto-mechanical systems design and development.\nStrong proficiency in CAD tools and simulation platforms.\nProven ability to conduct mechanical and thermal analysis of complex systems.\nFamiliarity with integration of optical components into mechanical assemblies.\nDemonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to lead design initiatives from concept through production.\nExcellent communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.\nKEY SKILLS\nExperience in opto-mechanical system designs\nProficiency at using CAD modelling and simulation (e.g. Solidworks, ANSYS, etc.)\nProficiency in structural, mechanical, thermal, and vibration system design and testing\nExperience in mechanical system design and electronics packaging\nKnowledge of material properties and mechanical fabrication techniques, and design for manufacturability\nFamiliar with electro-optics lab testing equipment including autocollimators, shakers, etc.\nFamiliar with optical modelling tool (Zemax)-advantageous\nWHY CHOOSE EDGE\nLaunched in November 2019, the UAE's EDGE is one of the world's leading advanced technology groups, established to develop agile, bold and disruptive solutions for defence and beyond, and to be a catalyst for change and transformation.
