Free from heavy legacy processes, we give our people the autonomy, accountability, and agility to bring breakthrough technologies from concept to reality.\nBased in Abu Dhabi, a globally connected hub at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, EDGE is home to a truly multicultural community where bold ideas thrive, and the future is shaped.\nTogether, we are shaping the future.\nABOUT THE ROLE\nAbout POWERTECH\nPOWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.\nJob Summary\nThe Material Engineer is responsible for selection, qualification and overseeing of all materials used in the turbofan propulsion system (intake-engine-exhaust), ensuring compliance with performance, durability and certification requirements.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nOrganize materials database knowledge and strategy\nSupport the Product engineering teams regards to material behavior laws and characteristics in the design and validation of components and systems\nSupport the Industrialization team and Engineering Manufacturing department even Supply Chain related to production aspect, from raw materials to production delivery\nDefine and approve materials selection for compressor rotors/stators, turbine disks/blisks/blades, Combustion chamber, casings, shafts, bearings, intake, exhaust, taking into account technical and contractual requirement\nManage risk, identify material criticality and define what-if scenario regarding the turbofan performance (LLP for instance) and during manufacturing processes (casting, forging, AM…)\nDefine as necessary material qualification and testing (creep, LCF/HCF, corrosion, …)\nInvestigate root causes analysis, metallurgical investigations if needed, material non-conformance assessments\nSupport suppliers’ qualification and audit\nPrepare deliverables and compliance documentation related to the field\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nMinimum 8 years of experience within turbofan propulsion, aerospace, or other complex engineered systems\nMaterial expertise: Nickel superalloys, Titanium alloys, CMC, single-crystal, stainless steels, Ceramic coatings, TBC, composite.\nMaterial testing and behavior laws parameters and characterization knowledge\nSolid understanding of turbofan architectures (sub-systems and their integration constraints), performance drivers and technology interfaces (sensors, equipment…)\nExperience / exposed to manufacturing/machining processes and production, FAI, Validation and Qualification\nASTM, ISO, AMS\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nEngineering degree / MSc or PhD in Materials Science or equivalent\nAbility to analyze and structure complex information into actionable product decision under pressure with a sense of urgency\nAbility to work in a multicultural environment, across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams\nExcellent communication skills, team player\nWHY CHOOSE EDGE\nLaunched in November 2019, the UAE's EDGE is one of the world's leading advanced technology groups, established to develop agile, bold and disruptive solutions for defence and beyond, and to be a catalyst for change and transformation.
