THE ROLE\n\nWe are looking for an experienced Cryptography Engineer to join our R&D team and work on security-critical open source system where cryptography is a core part of the product.\n\nYou will be working at the intersection of applied cryptography, software engineering, security and modern distributed systems — analysing cryptographic constructions, designing secure protocols, implementing cryptographic primitives and their optimization in the framework.\n\nThis role is suitable for both cryptography-first engineers with a strong mathematical background and engineering-first developers who have substantial experience with cryptographic systems and want to go deeper into applied cryptography.\n\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\n\nDesign, implement and review cryptographic protocols and security-critical components for the framework under creation.\n\nImplement and integrate cryptographic algorithms and primitives into production software and its releases.\n\nWork with symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, digital signatures, hashing and key-exchange mechanisms.\n\nDesign and implement secure key management and key lifecycle processes.\n\nAnalyse existing cryptographic implementations and identify potential weaknesses.\n\nParticipate in security and cryptographic code reviews.\n\nTranslate cryptographic research and academic papers into practical engineering solutions.\n\nDevelop comprehensive unit, integration, negative and interoperability tests.\n\nInvestigate vulnerabilities, implementation flaws and potential attack vectors.\n\nKeep up with developments in applied cryptography, cryptographic protocols and emerging security technologies.\n\nWHAT WE EXPECT\n\nCryptography\n\nStrong understanding of modern cryptographic fundamentals:symmetric encryption;\n\nasymmetric encryption;\n\nhash functions;\n\nMAC / HMAC;\n\ndigital signatures;\n\nkey exchange;\n\npublic-key cryptography;\n\nrandom number generation;\n\nkey derivation and key management.\nPractical understanding of algorithms and constructions such as:AES;\n\nChaCha20 / Poly1305;\n\nSHA-2 / SHA-3;\n\nRSA;\n\nECC;\n\nECDSA / EdDSA;\n\nDiffie–Hellman / ECDH;\n\nHKDF;\n\nAEAD.\nUnderstanding of common cryptographic protocols and how they are used in real systems.\n\nAbility to reason about cryptographic security assumptions and threat models.\n\nUnderstanding of common cryptographic implementation mistakes and attack vectors.\n\nAbility to read and understand cryptographic papers, specifications and technical documentation.\n\nSoftware Engineering\n\n4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience working with security-critical or low-level systems.\n\nStrong programming skills in at least one of:Rust\n\nC/C++\n\nGo\n\nPython\nExperience designing and implementing production-grade software.\n\nStrong understanding of algorithms, data structures and software architecture.\n\nExperience with unit testing, integration testing and code review.\n\nUnderstanding of networking and modern distributed systems.\n\nGood understanding of operating-system concepts and how applications interact with system resources.\n\nExperience working with APIs, protocols and serialization formats.\n\nSecurity\n\nUnderstanding of threat modelling and security boundaries.\n\nUnderstanding of authentication, authorization and trust models.\n\nFamiliarity with secure software development practices.\n\nAbility to distinguish between a cryptographic problem and a problem that should be solved by another security control.\n\nExperience analysing security vulnerabilities and their potential impact.\n\nWOULD BE A PLUS\n\nExperience with Rust and/or cryptographic libraries.\n\nExperience developing cryptographic libraries or security-critical components.\n\nExperience with TLS, PKI, X.509, certificates and key management systems.\n\nKnowledge of modern protocols such as HPKE.\n\nExperience with zero-knowledge proofs, MPC, threshold cryptography or homomorphic encryption.\n\nExperience with blockchain cryptography and transaction privacy.\n\nKnowledge of secure distributed computing.\n\nExperience with hardware-backed security, HSM, TPM, Secure Enclave or similar technologies.\n\nExperience with side-channel attacks and constant-time programming.\n\nContributions to open-source cryptographic or security projects.\n\nAcademic or professional background in cryptography, information security, mathematics or computer
