This role is different from a traditional engineering position: we've fully embraced AI-assisted development, and we expect most code to be written by AI tools. Your job is to direct that process effectively.\nYou'll work across our entire product suite and internal tools, building robust systems that serve educators and students while also using AI to automate our business operations.\nWhat You'll Do\nArchitect and oversee backend systems across our product lineup and internal tooling\n\nGuide AI coding assistants to implement large-scale changes and new features\n\nReview, debug, and refine AI-generated code to production standards\n\nUse AI internally to automate business operations\n\nShip full-stack features end-to-end\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential skills:\nFast at reading code, human or AI generated\n\nStrong debugging skills and an eye for bugs\n\nCapacity to envision large architectural changes and break them into steps an AI can execute\n\nAbility to context switch and juggle multiple in flight tasks\n\nExperience with Node.js and cloud infrastructure (AWS, containers, managed databases)\n\nComfort working across multiple codebases and problem domains\n\nWhat sets you apart:\nYou think at systems scale\n\nYou're effective at communicating intent to AI tools and iterating on their output\n\nYou have good judgment about when to accept AI suggestions and when to push back\n\nYou're comfortable with ambiguity and can take ownership of loosely-defined problems\n\nNice to have:\nFrontend experience (React)-you'll be reading it regardless\n\nStartup experience\n\nWhy This Role Is Different\nWe're not looking for someone who wants to write every line of code themselves.
