We are looking for a sharp and experienced SDE-2 Frontend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building scalable, high-performance web applications and crafting seamless user experiences using modern frontend technologies. You'll work closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver customer-facing features end-to-end, improve site performance, and help shape the frontend architecture of a fast-growing luxury commerce platform. As an SDE-2 we expect you to take ownership of frontend systems, make thoughtful technical decisions, and contribute to delivering high-impact features with strong attention to performance, usability, and code quality.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and scale modern frontend applications using Next.js, React.js, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Build responsive, accessible, and reusable UI components and frontend modules.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Optimise frontend performance across Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), bundle size, lazy loading, image optimisation, and rendering strategies.
- Take ownership of frontend architecture and contribute to scalable design patterns and maintainable code structure.
- Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs and backend services.
- Write unit and integration tests using Jest and React Testing Library.
- Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, CI checks, and best practices.
- Monitor and improve overall user experience, frontend observability, and developer experience.
- Contribute to component libraries/design systems and ensure consistency across the platform.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in frontend web development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), React.js, and Next.js (SSR, routing, data fetching, rendering strategies).
- Strong understanding of frontend performance optimisation techniques and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience building scalable, responsive, and accessible web applications.
- Familiarity with modern AI-powered developer tools (e. g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, AI code search, code review tools) and ability to use them effectively as productivity multipliers.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs.
- Exposure to component libraries/design systems and responsive UI development.
- Strong grasp of browser rendering, caching, and frontend debugging tools.
- Comfortable with Git workflows and collaborating via pull requests.
- Ability to independently drive frontend features/modules end-to-end in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Good to Have:
- Familiarity with Node.js -based services and backend integrations.
- Exposure to MySQL, API design, and backend performance concepts.
- Working knowledge of Docker, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS services (EC2 RDS, S3).
- Experience working in microservices-based environments.
- Familiarity with CDN platforms such as Cloudflare.
- Experience conducting performance audits using Lighthouse, WebPageTest, or Chrome DevTools.
- Exposure to API documentation tools such as Swagger/Postman.
