With more than 13,000 employees around the world, we are committed to using our energy and heart to drive a better tomorrow.\nWhat you will do\nRole Overview:\nThe Tax Provision Senior Associate will assist with preparation of US, Canadian, Mexican income tax provisions, the estimated tax projection, and Canadian corporate and partnership income tax returns. You will research issues relating to federal and state tax matters.\n Main responsibilities:\nPrepare quarterly tax provisions and deferred tax calculations to ensure deferred tax balances are accurately reported \nPrepare quarterly tax provision’s effective tax rate computations \nInteract with Accounting Department staff and other departments as needed to ensure that the Tax Department obtains all information needed for the tax provision calculation and reporting \nPrepare projected income tax estimates under various assumptions \nPrepare Canadian corporate and partnership income tax returns and withholding tax returns \nProvide due diligence support to M&A and portfolio management departments including review of cost segregation studies \nResearch Canadian corporate and partnership income tax issues and identify ways to optimize tax obligations \nSupport Canadian tax audits, including providing documentation and analysis related to Investment Tax Credit (ITC) claims\nAdditional duties as required \nEmployment type\nFull-Time / Hybrid\nWork site\nHouston, TX\nWhat are we looking for\n Minimum Requirements:\nBachelors or Master’s degree in Accounting \n5+ years in public or industry experience including 2+ years in preparing or reviewing tax provisions \nCPA preferred \nStrong technical knowledge of federal and state corporate and partnership taxation \nIn depth understanding of accounting principles \nKnowledgeable with SOX Act regulations \nUnderstanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred; Strong Microsoft Excel skills (knowledge of complex functions and formulas) \nCompetency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred \nTravel:\nUp to 10%\nBehavioral Requirements:\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment \nStrong interpersonal and organizational skills \nAbility to consistently meet non-flexible deadlines which may include working overtime when needed \nAbility to be self-motivated \nStrong oral and written communication and presentation skills \nEnergy industry experience preferred \nPhysical demands & working conditions:\nSitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment \nSpeech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form \nLifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds \nVision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form \nSafety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary \nMore than academic knowledge and technical skills, we are looking for ambitious people who are enthusiastic about the future and who bring human skills aligned with our purpose.\nEqual opportunities for all\nOur vision is that each person combines their unique characteristics and experiences to fulfill our mission of creating new energy for the planet.
