The role suits a developer with solid full stack experience in Python and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks who is committed to delivering high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions.\nMinimum Requirements\nQualifications / Education\nA bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF 7 qualification (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. \nExperience\n3-5 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining web applications across the full stack (frontend and backend) in a modern software environment. \nMinimum of 3 years' experience with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular). \nMinimum of 3 years' backend development experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI. \nMinimum of 2 years' experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases in a production environment. \nAdvantageous\nExperience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and containerisation (Docker). \nDuties and Responsibilities\nApplication Development & Maintenance\nDesign, develop, test, and implement custom full stack solutions, including frontend interfaces, backend services, and system integrations. \nBuild and maintain scalable RESTful/GraphQL APIs and the databases that support them. \nBuild and maintain application modules and workflows. \nWrite and maintain automated tests (unit and integration) to ensure code quality. \nApply secure coding practices to protect application and user data. \nAgile Practices\nActively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives). \nCollaborate with team members to refine user stories and clarify requirements. \nDeliver quality code within agreed timelines through iterative development. \nDevOps Practices\nSupport CI/CD processes and deployments using Azure DevOps (or similar). \nAssist in automating deployment steps and monitoring application performance. \nEscalate issues promptly to ensure system stability. \nTechnical Contribution\nAdhere to best practices, contribute to code reviews, and apply feedback to improve standards. \nStay informed on modern frontend and backend frameworks, tools, and best practices. \nProvide input on technical designs and suggest improvements. \nCollaboration & Communication\nDocument technical designs, processes, and configurations. \nWork closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions. \nCommunicate progress and challenges clearly to stakeholders. \nProblem Solving & Troubleshooting\nDiagnose and resolve technical issues promptly. \nPerform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. \nSupport production systems to ensure high availability. \nContinuous Improvement\nRecommend tools and processes to improve development efficiency. \nParticipate in training and professional development opportunities. \nContribute to internal frameworks and standards. \nProjects & User Support\nContribute to delivering projects on schedule and provide regular stakeholder updates. \nSupport users by meeting SLA targets and resolving issues efficiently. \nAssist with end-user training and ensure effective knowledge transfer. \nFunctional and Behavioural Competencies\nTechnical / Functional Competencies:\nFrontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular) alongside HTML5, CSS3/Tailwind, and modern state management. \nBackend Expertise: Solid hands-on experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI, and with building scalable RESTful/GraphQL APIs. \nDatabases: Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning, and the ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries.
