EFI’s combination of global solutions and local expertise has earned the firm a reputation for delivering timely responses that consistently meet our clients’ expectations-anytime, anywhere.\nPRIMARY PURPOSE : To providefundamental Engineering principles and methods to provide forensic structural and building damage assessments to determine the origin and cause of failure/ damagefor residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and sites, etc. Furtherusing recognized design principles complete design ofstructuralrestoration and repair works includingreconstruction design (includingbuilding permits) following a fire, and foundation underpinning related to oil spill remediation under a building, snow load and or roof failures, and cost estimations through repair scope development.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES\nInspectsbuildings and sites as prescribed by company policy and industry standards\n\nDocuments existing site conditions using scaled sketches and/or diagrams, measurements, collection of evidence, and photographic documentation, as appropriate\n\nUtilizes appropriate engineering survey, monitoring, and measuring equipment\n\nUtilizes appropriate interview skills and techniques with points of contact and/or interested parties to obtain background / historical information\n\nResearches a variety of technical issuesincluding buildingcodes, standards, technical papers, textbooks,design manuals,handbooks,best practice guides,internet, etc.\n\nAnalyzes available data, develops conclusions, and drafts technical reports\n\nResponsible for appropriate handling of records of assignments, referrals, follow-up with Claims Adjusters, interviews with property owners, witnesses, etc.\n\nCompletes building restoration designs to support application for building permits for building reconstruction\n\nPromotes and provides superior customer service and responsiveness to customer needs\n\nCompletes all forensic investigations in a timely manner. Provides written reports that are clear and concise, written in a manner that conforms to EFI Global policies and industry standards\n\nPromotes EFI Global capabilities to expand business opportunities with client companies\n\nSustains current knowledge of approved forensic engineering investigation practices\n\nDevelops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.\n\nADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES\nComplies with Company’sSafety Programs/Standards\n\nProperly utilizes Personal Protection Equipment\n\nExercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased)\n\nComplies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment\n\nMeets or exceeds productivity levelsand daily time submissionas determined by manager.\n\nComplies with all Human Resources Policies, Programs, and Initiatives\n\nAll other duties as assigned\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation & Licensing\nBachelor’s Degree inCivilEngineeringfrom a recognized university and aRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)in the province of the posted position.\nExperience\nFive(5) +years ofengineeringexperience or equivalent combination of experience and education requiredwithsome introduction toin the forensic sciences discipline.Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures, general terms, conditions, nomenclature, etc. associated with the insurance industry and assigned area of engineering specialty. Forensic Engineering investigation experienceisa plus. Documented experience in structural design of wood, steel and reinforced concrete.\nSkills & Knowledge\nExcellent oral and written communication\n\nPC literate, including Microsoft Office products\n\nAnalytical and interpretive skill\n\nStrong organizational skills\n\nExcellent interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to work independently or in a team environment\n\nAbility to meet or exceed Performance Competencies\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nTravel, at least,30-40%of the time.
