The right individual will have experience working with large animals, farm equipment, and must be able to perform maintenance on equipment and buildings. Experience with hand tools and power tools is required. This position requires working a rotating weekend and holiday schedule. The right individual must be detail-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to work as a team and individually. This position requires physical demands such as climbing, stooping, crouching, sitting on equipment such as lawnmowers and tractors for extended periods, and handling/moving swine throughout the facilities.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES\nResponsible for operating large farm equipment at the eGenesis - WI facility\nOperation of skid loaders, tractors, manure management equipment, and hay equipment\nActivities involving large farm equipment include but are not limited to carcass management/composting, spreading solid and liquid manure, pasture mowing, and unloading deliveries\nPerform preventative maintenance on equipment and repairs when needed\nResponsible for landscaping and general grounds upkeep\nOperation of lawn mower tractor (Zero Turn, AWD), weedwhacker, leaf blower, snowplow, and chainsaw\nActivities include but are not limited to lawn mowing/trimming, tree clearing/pruning, snow plowing (farm roads and sidewalks), and spraying weeds\nResponsible for basic maintenance of both animal facilities and lab facilities\nFollow preventative maintenance schedules and work closely with all vendors of all equipment and systems\nOperation of hand tools, power tools, welding machines, oxyacetylene torch\nParticipate in daily care of pigs at the animal facilities, including cleaning and upkeep of the facility\nFeeding, caring for, and handling swine including a weekend and holiday rotation\nFollow safe work practices and enforce health and safety regulations \nCorrect unsafe acts and conditions and ensure equipment is properly maintained\nReport and investigate all accidents/incidents\nInspect personal area and take remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards\nComplete required training assignments, forms, and other paperwork\nAdhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements for the Main Facility and Quarantine Facility\nDue to the nature of operating a research animal facility, there is potential to be asked to work overtime hours\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nH.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) minimum\n1+ years of experience in large animal care and handling\n1+ years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance\nWorking knowledge of animal husbandry, including nutrition, reproduction, and safety\nBasic working knowledge facility maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills\nExcellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills\nBasic use of Microsoft office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)\nMust not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company\nCDL driver’s license and welding experience desired but not required\nStrong attention to operational planning and follow through\nWorking knowledge of data collection and recording\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in different environments, including farm, shop, office, laboratory, and animal husbandry environments in varying weather conditions. The employee frequently is required to be walking, stooping, climbing, and crouching.
