We only accept candidates located in the EU.\nWhat You'll Own\nDelivery\nAccountability for the delivery: scope, sequencing, technical decisions, quality and timeline\nWorking day to day with the client and with the project manager / product owner to turn what they need into a plan the team can execute\nBeing honest about estimates and risk, early\nLeading the team\nLead, mentor and grow a team of 2 to 6 backend and AI engineers in a remote-first environment\nRegular 1:1s, constructive feedback, and support for career development - with the head of engineering backing you up as needed\nRaising the bar through code and design review\nTechnical direction\nDrive architecture decisions for scalable, async-first Python systems\nMake sure our engineering practices are actually followed - ADRs, TDRs, architecture principles, testing, documentation and security\nContribute hands-on to the critical services, APIs and AI orchestration paths\nWays of working\nRun the team's rhythm: daily standups, planning, retrospectives\nWhat We're Looking For\nProven experience leading small engineering teams (2-6 engineers) in a technical capacity, while remaining hands-on\nHas been accountable for a delivery, not just for a codebase\nStrong coding skills with deep knowledge of async programming and backend development\nExperience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis streams), and relational databases (PostgreSQL)\nComfortable working directly with clients and with a project manager / product owner\nDemonstrated ability to balance technical leadership with people management\nExcellent communication skills - able to articulate technical concepts to both engineers and stakeholders\nStrong problem-solving skills, technical rigor, and attention to detail\nExperience working effectively in remote-first, distributed teams\nBachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\nNice to have\nExperience with multi-agent systems, AI orchestration, or generative AI projects\nKnowledge of cloud-native infrastructure (STACKIT, Azure, AWS, or GCP)\nTrack record of hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering talent\nContributions to open-source projects or participation in technical communities\nAbout EggAI\nAgentic workforces are inevitable.
