These tools are used day-to-day by a large civil engineering team working in 3D modelling, checking and data delivery\nAs part of a growing development function, you will work collaboratively with other BIM Developers and the wider BIM team, playing a key role in maintaining and evolving our toolset. The role will involve observing user interactions, defining priorities, and delivering robust, scalable solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across projects\nYour responsibilities will include but not be limited to:\nTool Development and Enhancement\nTake ownership of an existing internal suite of BIM-related tools and plug-ins.\nAnalyse, maintain, and expand these tools in response to new project requirements and team feedback.\nEnsure that tool updates are robust, well-documented, and backward-compatable, with existing workflows\nCollaboration and Communication\nWork directly with other BIM Developers and the BIM Manager to clarify requirements, assess development feasibility, and prioritise enhancements.\nRespond to tool users’ feedback and proactively propose improvements to streamline their workflows.\nParticipate in internal meetings and tool reviews to ensure that development aligns with team needs and project priorities.\nCode Quality and Version Control\nUtilise GitLab for code version control and validation document management.\nMaintain clear documentation of tool revisions, user guides, and testing notes in English.\nEnsure tools are deployed in a controlled, traceable, and validated manner.\nAPI Integration and BIM Environment Awareness\nAdapt tools to interface with commercial BIM software platforms (e.g. Tekla Structures, Revit, Navisworks) using available APIs.\nSupport integration of tools with 3D modelling environments and support efforts to streamline BIM checks, data validation, and digital QA/QC.\n We are looking for candidates with the following background:\nEssential\n2-5 years of hands-on experience as a software developer, preferably in an engineering or construction context.\nThorough knowledge and experience with C#.\nExperience working with IDEs suited for C# development.\nProven ability to take on, understand and maintain legacy codebases.\nExperience working in a version-controlled environment (GitLab, GitHub, etc.).\nStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent development tasks effectively.\nClear English writing skills for documentation, version notes, and validation records.\nWillingness to learn from users and apply practical problem-solving approaches.\nDesirable\nExperience working with Visual Studio.\nExperience working with commercial BIM platforms and their APIs (e.g. Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks).\nExperience with Windows Forms and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation).\nKnowledge of BIM environments and workflows (e.g. model checking, data management, clash detection).\nKnowledge of Tekla’s API.\nEnthusiastic and proactive mindset, with a desire to improve BIM workflows and contribute to a high-performing team.\nAdditional experience in other languages such as SQL, VBA, or Python is advantageous.\nKnowledge of DevOps practices.\n If your skill set and experience match our current and future roles, a member of our recruitment team will contact you for an informal discussion.\nDue to recent changes to the Skilled Worker visa regulations introduced by the UK Government in April 2024, Egis is unable to sponsor candidates under this route at this time.
