Egis is a French engineering, consulting and operations group working on transport, buildings, water, energy and urban development projects worldwide. It designs and supervises infrastructure such as motorways, rail lines, metro systems, airports and bridges, and unusually also operates assets once they are built, running airports and road concessions rather than handing them over at completion. Headquartered near Paris and majority owned by the state investment bank Caisse des Depots alongside its own employees, the group employs tens of thousands of engineers and project managers across more than one hundred countries.

Egis is a leading global architectural, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility services firm. We create and operate intelligent infrastructure and buildings that both respond to the climate emergency and contribute to more balanced, sustainable and resilient development. Our 22,000 employees operate across over 100 countries, deploying their expertise to develop and deliver cutting-edge innovations and solutions for clients. Through the wide range of our activities, we are central to the collective organisation of society and the living environment of citizens all over the world.

Our award-winning buildings consultancy unit at Egis UK (previously Thomas & Adamson International Ltd) specialise in project management, cost management, building surveying and construction safety services. On recently joining the Egis Group, T&A had been supporting and leading organisations through the challenges of procuring, delivering and operating their built assets across the UK for over 90 years. The personalised nature of their expertise and advice gives our clients what they really want - greater confidence, more time and increased return on investment.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our team in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

  • Support the development of cost estimates when needed within relevant reports.

General Duties

  • Generally representing Egis in a professionally competent and positive manner, ensuring service quality and integrity is maintained to the highest possible standards.
  • Reporting to the client and other stakeholders in line with the client’s requirement with company standards.

Delivering Great Client Experience

The BS will build strong, professional relationships with clients, consultants and contractors, based on mutual respect, trust and integrity. In this context, the role will involve:

    • Representing Egis at project meetings with clients, designers and contractors and following up on actions assigned to Egis at all such meetings.
    • Communicating clearly, concisely and coherently with the client and other consultants regarding information required for the purpose of performing our services

Contributing to the team

  • The BS will liaise regularly with mentors and will seek support when issues and challenges on assignments arise.
  • The BS will engage in professional development and training within the business and externally.
    • Able to prioritise and co-ordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met.
    • Accurate and excellent attention to detail.
    • Pro-active and enjoys working autonomously and as part of a wider team.
    • Confident and assertive where required.
    • Flexible approach to work.
