Egis is a French engineering, consulting and operations group working on transport, buildings, water, energy and urban development projects worldwide. It designs and supervises infrastructure such as motorways, rail lines, metro systems, airports and bridges, and unusually also operates assets once they are built, running airports and road concessions rather than handing them over at completion. Headquartered near Paris and majority owned by the state investment bank Caisse des Depots alongside its own employees, the group employs tens of thousands of engineers and project managers across more than one hundred countries.

Egis is an international player active in architecture, consulting, construction engineering and mobility services. We create and operate intelligent infrastructures and buildings that respond to the climate emergency and contribute to more balanced, sustainable and resilient territorial development. Operating in 100 countries, Egis puts the expertise of its 19,500 employees at the service of its clients and develops cutting-edge innovations accessible to all projects. Through its wide range of activities, Egis is a key player in the collective organisation of society and the living environment of citizens all over the world.

With 3,500 employees across 8 countries in the Middle East, Egis has delivered over 700 complex development projects, stimulating economic growth and enhancing quality of life. Ranked among the top ten firms in the Middle East by Engineering News Record (ENR), Egis is committed to sustainable development. The Group’s operations in the Middle East are built on strategic acquisitions and a deep understanding of local market conditions. Egis’ long history of providing comprehensive engineering, consulting, and project management services makes it a trusted partner for regional governments, investors, and developers.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Wet Utility Design Engineer to join our utilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, hydraulic modelling, detailed design and documentation for foul sewer, stormwater drainage, potable water, fire-fighting and treated sewage effluent (TSE) networks. The role requires hands-on experience with hydraulic modelling software (WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS) and strong knowledge of gravity and pressurized network design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or contribute to the full design lifecycle for wet utilities: concept, feasibility, detailed design, construction documentation and handover.
  • Develop hydraulic models for gravity and pressurized networks using WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS (or equivalent), including calibration, validation and scenario analysis.
  • Design foul sewer networks: pipe sizing, gradients, manholes, junctions, pumping stations, and connection strategies in accordance with local standards and good practice.
  • Design stormwater drainage systems: open drains, closed conduits, culverts, detention/retention solutions, sustainable drainage (SuDS) measures and flood-routing analysis.
  • Design potable water distribution systems: network layout, pipe sizing, service connections, pressure management, and water quality considerations.
  • Design fire-fighting water networks: hydrant layouts, flow and pressure checks, booster pumps, and compliance with local fire codes and insurance requirements.
  • Design TSE (treated sewage effluent) reuse/irrigation distribution systems: pipework, storage, quality control and risk mitigation.
  • Produce detailed drawings, specifications, schedules, bill of quantities, and construction tender documents using CAD and/or BIM tools.
  • Prepare technical reports, design calculations and design risk assessments; ensure designs meet local regulations, utility company requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, environmental) and external stakeholders (clients, authorities, utility providers, contractors).
  • Provide technical support during procurement and construction phases, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and conducting site visits.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Relevant postgraduate qualifications are advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of practical design experience in wet utilities engineering.
  • Proven experience using WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS for hydraulic modelling of gravity and pressurised networks.
  • Strong knowledge of design standards and codes.
  • Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D) and familiarity with BIM workflows is preferred.
  • Solid technical writing skills and experience producing design reports and specifications.
  • Good project management skills including time management, prioritization and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with clients, authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
