Egis is a French engineering, consulting and operations group working on transport, buildings, water, energy and urban development projects worldwide. It designs and supervises infrastructure such as motorways, rail lines, metro systems, airports and bridges, and unusually also operates assets once they are built, running airports and road concessions rather than handing them over at completion. Headquartered near Paris and majority owned by the state investment bank Caisse des Depots alongside its own employees, the group employs tens of thousands of engineers and project managers across more than one hundred countries.

Lochner and Egis are entering an exciting new chapter as one organization.

We have combined decades of trusted U.S. engineering expertise with the global reach, technical excellence, and career opportunities of a leading international engineering, consulting, and infrastructure firm. While our name has changed, our commitment to our people, clients, and communities is stronger than ever.

At Egis, every project is an opportunity to create lasting impact. We collaborate with public and private clients to design and deliver innovative transportation, aviation, rail, transit, water, structural, environmental, and infrastructure solutions that connect communities and improve everyday life. Join a team where innovation is encouraged, collaboration is valued, and your work helps build a more sustainable future.

We are seeking a Roadway Project Engineer to support the delivery of transportation projects across North Carolina. This role will serve as a project manager or task leader for urban and rural roadway engineering projects. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with experience working with NCDOT and other public agencies who can quickly contribute to active projects, help coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a trusted partner throughout the project development and delivery process.

The successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and an experience in producing Right of Way Acquisition Plans and Final Roadway Plans, and a understanding of how transportation projects move from planning and funding through design and implementation.

The Impact You'll Make

  • Support the delivery of transportation projects for NCDOT, municipalities, MPOs, and other public-sector clients throughout North Carolina.
  • Coordinate project activities among internal design teams, subconsultants, agency stakeholders, and clients to help ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, scope management, and tracking project milestones and deliverables.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with personnel and other transportation partners.
  • Work closely with project managers to support project execution, resource coordination, budget tracking, and client communication.
  • Participate in project meetings, stakeholder coordination efforts, and agency discussions.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure quality deliverables are produced on schedule and within project objectives.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, client presentations, project pursuits, and other business development activities.
  • Contribute to marketing and client engagement efforts by supporting relationship development and identifying opportunities to grow transportation services.
  • Help monitor project schedules, identify potential risks, and proactively coordinate solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Serve as a resource to project teams regarding processes, transportation funding programs, and project development procedures.

The Expertise You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of transportation engineering, project delivery, or Roadway Design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain North Carolina licensure within six months of hire.
  • Experience working with NCDOT projects, policies, standards, and project development processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate project teams, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability for project schedules and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to proactively manage tasks and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, agency partners, and internal teams.
  • Understanding of transportation project development, permitting, funding mechanisms, and public-sector project delivery.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation ORD and transportation design processes is preferred.
