Our Team includes designers, engineers, surveyors, project managers, technologists, geo-technical and environmental teams, asset and maintenance managers and quantity surveyors all working together\nWe work in partnership with public sector clients and private companies both at home and internationally, and we are committed to supporting the government in realising their climate, infrastructural and societal goals as part of Project Ireland 2040\nOur key areas of expertise in Structural Design include:\nSmart cities\nLarge Scale Residential and Commercial Buildings\nWater & Wastewater\nOur key areas of expertise in Civil Engineering include:\nRail & Urban transit\nActive travel\nRoads and bridges\nWater & Wastewater\nSmart cities\nEnergy\nConsulting and Operations\n Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer\nLocation: Ireland (Flexible with Hybrid Working Options)\nCompany: Egis Engineering - Ireland\nDepartment: Geotechnical Design\nReporting To: Director / Geotechnical Department Manager\nWe are now looking to grow our talented Geotechnical team with a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer.\nRole Summary\nWe are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer with a minimum of 10 years post graduate experience.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex geotechnical design solutions across major infrastructure projects including highways, motorways, rail, active travel schemes, and drainage works.\nThis is a crucial position within our Geotechnical team, supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary design projects for both public and private sector clients across Ireland.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and manage geotechnical input on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.\nPrepare and review geotechnical design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.\nProvide technical mentorship to junior staff within the geotechnical team.\nUndertake ground investigation scoping, design, supervision, and interpretation.\nCollaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams.\nLiaise with project stakeholders, clients, and contractors during design and construction phases.\nEnsure that all geotechnical design work is delivered to the highest quality and safety standards in accordance with Eurocodes and Irish/UK standards.\n Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).\nMinimum 10 years’ post-graduate experience in geotechnical design engineering.\nProven experience working on large civil infrastructure projects within a busy consultancy environment.\nStrong experience in the design and analysis of earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques.\nProficient in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP, Settle3, etc.).\nChartership (CEng or approaching Chartered status) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.\nExcellent communication and report writing skills.\nDesirable Skills\nExperience working in multidisciplinary teams on TII, Irish Rail or NTA-led projects.\nFamiliarity with BIM processes and digital design workflows.\nProject management and client-facing experience.\n Equality, Diversity & Inclusion\nWe at EGIS are an Equal Opportunities employer and we recognise the value of a Diverse Organisation.
