It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.\nWe’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and looking for a Senior Project Manager to deliver project objectives across sex key areas of performance; Health & Safety, Quantity, Cost, Environment, Delivery & People.\nWe are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a strong project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver the complex highways schemes throughout their whole project lifecycle. Schemes range in value from £20k to £3m+. This role will also involve direct line management of project managers, assistant project managers and early careers. Other requirements also include the successful delivery of the programme of works on time and to budget.\nKey responsibilities / duties:\nTo operate in the capacity of the Portfolio Manager in their absence\nDevelop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager, and key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects’ delivery objectives, to report on and review project performance, and to agree solutions to issues.\nMaintaining compliance with the DBFO contract clarifying roles and responsibilities within your team, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing timely and accurate reports, and creating and maintaining specified records including change management.\nIdentify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate. Where necessary develop, agree, and implement solutions to overcome these.\nGlobal or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios\nPortfolio income and cost profiles, overseeing and challenging the Project Managers input.\nClient liaison on a project and portfolio level\nChairing and driving regular (fortnightly) project reviews to ensure the following are current and live:Project and division risk register\nProject risk category (on financial spreadsheet)\nReview submissions register.\nReview of AWN Correspondence Register progress comments and milestone dates\nProject income and cost forecast (review of PM profiles)\nProject change\nProject priorities (for resource allocation)\nManage correspondence and queries through Aconex.\n\nProject change control and reviewing processes and procedure\nAllocation of projects to PMs based on appropriate knowledge, experience, ability, and capability (workload)\nWorking arrangements (shift work, need for travel etc)\nAbility and willingness to travel to other offices and depots on the network as and when required\nPeriodic requirement for site visits (night shift)\nFull Driving License\nQualifications/ skills:\nExperience in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience\nProject Management skills, preferably supported by recognised PM qualification, PRINCE2, APMP etc.\nPreference of minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline.\nBroad knowledge and understanding of other design areas.\nUnderstanding of Environmental requirements of schemes\nExperience of coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources\nUnderstanding of H&S Requirements related to highway construction & maintenance works.\nKnowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation\nCompetent in exercising the duties under CDM.\nApplicable CSCS Card\nTeam leadership and management experience in driving performance and productivity\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills\nStrong customer focus with a service delivery mindset\nCommercial understanding and budgetary control experience\nUnderstanding of Lean principles\nPersonal Attributes:\nProactive problem solving\nExcellent communication skills\nStrong safety management culture\nSelf-aware and adaptable style to meet varying project needs.\nResilient\nPresentation skills.\nTeam building skills.\nAbility to prioritise and self-manage.\nAbility to develop relationships and engender trust\nExperience:\nExperience at a senior level in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience\nPrevious experience in a similar role with demonstrable competence in relation to the majority of the responsibilities listed above.\nExperience of managing projects through complete lifecycle\n Equality, Diversity & Inclusion\nWe are an Equal Opportunities employer and we strive to build a workforce that truly reflects the communities we represent.
