Join a team where innovation is encouraged, collaboration is valued, and your work helps build a more sustainable future.\n We are looking for a Senior Track Engineer in our Chicago, IL office.\nThe Impact You’ll Make (Job Responsibilities)\nLead the design and engineering of railroad track systems, including:Horizontal and vertical alignments\nTurnouts and crossovers\nRail, ties, ballast, and subgrade systems\nYard and siding layouts\nAt-grade crossings\n\nPrepare and review:Construction drawings\nTechnical specifications\nEngineering calculations\nCost estimates\nBid documents and design reports\n\nPerform track geometry analysis and develop rehabilitation or maintenance recommendations.\nCoordinate with civil, structural, drainage, signal, and transportation engineering teams.\nProvide technical oversight for rail improvement, expansion, and rehabilitation projects.\nSupport construction activities through:Shop drawing reviews\nRFIs and submittals\nSite inspections\nField engineering support\n\nEnsure compliance with:FRA regulations\nAREMA standards\nState DOT requirements\nClient design standards\n\nManage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.\nMentor junior engineers and technical staff.\nParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and business development activities.\n The Expertise You’ll Bring (Qualifications)\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.\n8+ years of railroad or track engineering experience.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain in Illinois.\nStrong knowledge of:AREMA standards\nRailroad design practices\nTrack alignment and geometry\nRail construction methods\nTrack maintenance principles\n\nExperience using engineering software such as:AutoCAD Civil 3D\nMicroStation\nOpenRail Designer\nGIS and survey tools\n\nStrong project management and communication skills.\nAbility to travel to project sites throughout Illinois and neighboring states as needed.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMetra experience preferred\nExperience with Class I railroads, commuter rail, or transit agencies.\nDesign-build project experience.\nPMP certification or project management experience.\nFamiliarity with rail yard design and drainage systems.\nExperience leading multidisciplinary transportation projects.\n Why You'll Thrive at Egis\nAt Egis, you'll do more than build your career-you'll help shape the future of infrastructure.
