The role leads systems engineering governance activities and ensures project compliance with applicable standards, contractual requirements, and regulatory obligations.\nThe position acts as the key interface between Systems Engineering, Systems Assurance, Safety, Verification & Validation (V&V), Testing & Commissioning, and Project Management functions. The role establishes assurance frameworks, oversees requirements management, supports integration and interface management activities, monitors technical and integration risks, and provides assurance throughout the system lifecycle from development through verification, validation, testing, and acceptance.\nThe ideal candidate brings extensive rail industry experience in systems engineering, systems design, requirements management, interface management, and systems architecture within complex transit project environments. A Bachelor's degree and professional engineering designation are required, while a Master's degree is preferred.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide independent oversight and assurance of systems engineering processes and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.\nLead systems engineering governance activities and ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry requirements.\nDevelop and maintain systems engineering management plans supporting project delivery objectives.\nEstablish assurance frameworks and implement compliance monitoring processes across project systems activities.\nProvide assurance that system requirements are complete, traceable, verifiable, and validated.\nReview and assess requirements management processes and associated engineering deliverables.\nOversee verification and validation activities and support closure of findings and corrective actions.\nEnsure subsystem interfaces are identified, documented, coordinated, and effectively managed.\nMonitor system integration risks and mitigation activities through resolution.\nSupport identification, management, tracking, and closure of technical risks.\nLiaise with clients, regulators, independent assessors, operators, and project stakeholders on systems assurance matters.\nSupport successful integration, testing, verification, validation, acceptance, and operational readiness activities.\n Required\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or actively pursuing professional registration.\nMinimum 15+ years of railway industry experience in systems engineering, systems design, interface management, systems architecture, or related disciplines.\nExperience delivering complex rail and transit projects.\nKnowledge of Systems Engineering Lifecycle standards, including ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.\nKnowledge of EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, and AREMA standards.\nExperience in requirements management, verification and validation, interface management, and systems integration.\nExperience with compliance management and stakeholder engagement across major infrastructure projects.\nStrong leadership, communication, team management, and mentoring experience.\nStrong systems thinking and analytical capabilities.\nAssets\nMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.\nExperience in senior systems assurance or engineering management positions supporting rail transit project delivery.\n We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities.
