This role will serve as a technical authority and project lead for high-profile Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway Phase I studies, including preliminary engineering, feasibility studies, corridor planning, alternatives analysis, and environmental documentation.\nThe Impact You'll Make\nLead Phase I transportation engineering projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, municipalities, and other public agencies.\nManage preliminary engineering and feasibility studies for highways, roadways, interchanges, bridges, and multimodal transportation improvements.\nDirect alternatives analyses, corridor studies, concept development, and engineering evaluations.\nOversee preparation of Phase I engineering documents, technical reports, design studies, and supporting documentation.\nCoordinate multidisciplinary teams including roadway, structures, traffic, drainage, utilities, environmental, geotechnical, and right-of-way specialists.\nServe as the primary client contact and maintain strong relationships with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, local agencies, and stakeholders.\nProvide technical oversight and quality assurance for engineering deliverables.\nLead project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and risk management.\nParticipate in public involvement meetings, agency coordination meetings, and stakeholder presentations.\nMentor and develop junior engineers while promoting technical excellence throughout the organization.\nSupport proposal development, interviews, and strategic business development initiatives.\nEnsure compliance with IDOT Bureau of Design and Environment (BDE) Manual, Illinois Tollway standards, NEPA requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.\n The Expertise You'll Bring\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Illinois (required).\n12+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience, with significant emphasis on preliminary engineering and Phase I studies.\nDemonstrated experience leading IDOT and Illinois Tollway projects.\nExtensive knowledge of:Phase I Engineering\nFeasibility Studies\nAlternatives Analysis\nCorridor Studies\nNEPA documentation\nEnvironmental coordination\nPreliminary roadway geometric design\nAgency permitting and approvals\n\nProven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and multiple concurrent projects.\nStrong client management, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.\nExperience developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.\nProject Management Professional (PMP) certification.\nExperience with CMAP planning initiatives and municipal transportation projects.\nWorking knowledge of Phase II design and construction engineering services.\nEstablished relationships with IDOT districts, Illinois Tollway staff, and local public agencies.\nExperience leading pursuits and winning transportation infrastructure projects.\nWhy You'll Thrive at Egis\nAt Egis, you'll do more than build your career-you'll help shape the future of infrastructure.
