If you’re looking for something easier -this isn’t it.\nThe Role\nWe’re looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with expertise in thermal design to develop innovative products from concept through to production. You'll take ownership of the thermal performance of our systems including the thermal engine in the Pod Hub and the thermal core of the Pod Cover. You’ll be part of a small, mission-driven team and have significant ownership over decisions. We’re growing quickly so there are ample opportunities for career growth.\nThe position is based out of our San Francisco office and requires ~20% travel to China to support manufacturing activities.\nHow You'll Contribute\nEnsure our products have industry leading thermal performance through analysis and design activities.\n\nOptimize factors such performance, size, noise, and cost across our product portfolio.\n\nWork closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to implement designs.\n\nCreate and execute test plans to characterize prototypes and validate analytical results.\n\nDesign test systems for use in development and in production.\n\nWhat You'll Need to Succeed\n3+ years of experience in thermal system engineering (e.g. heatsinks, heat pipes, TECs, insulation strategies, thermally conductive materials).\n\nExpertise in thermal and fluid analysis, heat transfer fundamentals, thermal instrumentation, DOEs, and root cause analysis techniques.\n\nHighly proficient with simulation (e.g. IcePak, Fluent) and data analysis tools (e.g. Python, Matlab)\n\nExperience shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.\n\nProficient in CAD (e.g. Solidworks, NX, Creo) and DFM/DFA.\n\nBSME or equivalent (MS or PhD preferred).\n\nWillingness and ability to travel to China as needed.\n\nWhy join Eight Sleep?\nInnovation in a culture of excellence\nJoin us in a workplace where innovation isn’t just encouraged - it’s a standard.
