We receive data from insurers and partners who each follow the standards a little differently, but we need to make billing simple for our customers regardless of their payer arrangements and chase down every dollar we can for them across denials. We're using LLMs to take over a lot of work people currently do by hand. You'll design, build, and run these systems yourself.\nIf that sounds interesting, apply even if you don't check every box below.\nWhat the work looks like\nBuilding systems that balance financial transactions between insurance, patients, and the practice. We’re building complex solutions that maximize reimbursement for practices and get them paid more while removing complexity for them.\nWorking with inconsistent data from outside partners and handling the edge cases well\nShipping AI features that real users depend on, and figuring out how to tell when they're wrong\nImproving a mature codebase while customers are using it every day\nOwning your work in production and working with Support when something breaks\nCollaborating with product and design to identify improvements and make them rapidly\nYour first 60 days\nShip something to production\nScope and build a new feature with Product and Design\nLearn our stack and enough of the billing domain to be functional\nJoin code reviews and production support\nEngage with customers and learn from their feedback\n6-12 months in\nYou own big features; collaborating with design and product stakeholders all the way through deployment, monitoring, and collecting insights on adoption\nYou help set technical direction for your team on problems that you own\nSupport teams, product owners, and sales representatives know you as someone who gets production issues resolved quickly and can speak to the solutions natively\nWho we're looking for\nYou like owning a problem from start to finish. You think about how things will fail before they ship. You can identify when a problem needs a proper fix versus when a simple bandaid will do. You don't need to know healthcare billing already, but you're happy to learn it and to ask the experts a lot of questions. You can explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers. And you already use AI tools in your own work.\nHow we work\nEach team has several engineers, an engineering manager, a product manager, and a designer. Engineers make the technical calls and work with Product on scope and priorities.\nRequirements\nEssential\n5+ years of professional software development (8+ for Staff, including technical leadership)\nProduction experience building and running backend services and APIs\nComfortable working across the stack and in more than one language\nExperience with alerting/observability/instrumentation for real production solutions\nClear communicator with technical and non-technical people\nInterest in building with LLMs\nNice to have\nExperience building production features with LLMs or machine learning\nA data-driven mentality\nPython and/or PHP, and MySQL\nTypeScript and React\nPayments, financial, or ledger systems\nEvent-driven or distributed systems on AWS\nObservability and DevOps\nUS healthcare, especially medical billing or claims\nEveryone Is Welcome\nWe're committed to building a diverse and inclusive engineering team.
