We build internal tools that speed up the design workflow, build exploratory vision prototypes that explore novel product ideas and interaction modalities, and bridge the gap between design, development, and engineering.\nAs an intern in the Creative Technology team, you would help:\nCreate prototypes at different levels of fidelity, from quick experiments to robust demonstrators.\nExplore how emerging technologies can create meaningful experiences in the home.\nCollaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.\nContribute to a culture of experimentation, knowledge-sharing, and constructive critique.\nBridge the physical and digital world through software and electronics, working on both physical appliances and connected digital experiences.\nWhat You'll Work On\nAssist designers in preparing prototypes for user testing of current products.\nTranslate design questions and hypotheses into appropriate prototypes and experiments, selecting the right fidelity, tools, and technical approach for each prototype.\nContribute to the conceptualization and prototyping of vision prototypes for innovation design initiatives.\nTest, debug, and refine prototypes based on feedback from designers, engineers, and users.\nContribute to the organization and maintenance of the prototyping lab.\nGain exposure to and contribute across the design process, from research to prototyping and communication of findings.\nCombination with Thesis Project\nWe offer the possibility of hosting a Bachelor or Master thesis project. The topic should be developed in alignment with the people leader of the position and relevant for the Electrolux Group.\nDeep dive into one topic and investigate a jointly defined research question through design research and prototyping, producing both an academic thesis and a tangible prototype or demonstrator. The scope will be agreed with the student, university, and Electrolux supervisors.\nWhat You'll Learn\nHow to collaborate on design initiatives across industrial design, interaction design, research, software, and engineering.\nHow to determine what a prototype needs to prove and choose an appropriate level of fidelity.\nHands-on experience in rapid prototyping and idea conceptualization, and strengthening prototyping skills, including but not limited to working with electronics, software development, 3D modelling, and 3D printing.\nSoft skills in project planning, structuring ambiguous work, and communication of ideas.\nHow to communicate technical opportunities and limitations to non-technical collaborators.\nHow to turn ambiguous opportunities into testable design hypotheses\nundefined.\nWho You Are\nWe are looking for a student who combines structured thinking with genuine curiosity about organizations;\nCurrently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s program in the field of HCI / Industrial Design Engineering / Product Design and eligible to undertake a six-month internship or thesis project.\nInterested in using technology as a material for design exploration.\nCuriosity for design craft (interaction, visual, industrial), technology, and emerging trends.\nAble to move from an ambiguous question to a tangible experiment or prototype.\nComfortable learning unfamiliar tools and technologies when a project requires it.\nAble to communicate ideas, decisions, and limitations clearly through prototypes, visuals, and conversation.\nStructured, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.\nFluent in spoken and written English.\nWith a portfolio demonstrating how you explore ideas and solve problems through prototypes, experiments, or technical projects - (At least one example showing your process, including the question, iterations, challenges, and what you learned - not only the final result. Projects may come from coursework, personal experimentation, hackathons, employment, or collaborative work.)\nBonus criteria:\nExperience with one or more prototyping technologies, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, creative coding, PCB design, Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, sensors, actuators, computer vision, or connected devices\nExperience with CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics assembly, or other fabrication methods\nFamiliarity with Figma or other interaction and visual design tools\nExperience preparing prototypes for user research or public demonstrations\nInterest in emerging interaction modalities such as voice, gesture, spatial interfaces, AI-enabled experiences, or tangible interaction\nExperience documenting projects through photography, video, diagrams, or written case studies\nWhere you´ll be\nYou will be based at our modern global Headquarters in Stockholm, with 1,200+ colleagues on site. We work in a hybrid setup that gives everyone up to 20% flexibility to work remotely, while boosting creativity and collaboration through regular office presence.
