Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.\nThe future of entertainment is interactive, and our Ventures Group plays an important role in this future by building content, culture, and community that take us Beyond Gaming. We empower audiences to Play, Create, Watch, and Connect across our amazing franchises and experiences, including The Sims, Madden NFL, EA SPORTS FC, Apex Legends, and Battlefield. We’re a multi-functional group, with world-class expertise in building fandom, driving interactive storytelling, and positioning our franchises at the center of the broader entertainment ecosystem.\nWe are seeking a Software Engineer III (Site Reliability Engineering) on a six-month temporary full time contract to strengthen how we run and observe the services behind our Ventures products. The priority for this engagement is observability and incident response, followed by cloud cost and governance, then security posture. Infrastructure provisioning and build pipelines are largely self-managed by our backend and platform team, so you will support and improve those areas rather than own them outright.\nYou will work primarily in AWS, with some workloads in GCP, alongside internally provided EA infrastructure and platform services. Because this is a fixed-term engagement, we are looking for someone who can be productive early, leave behind well-documented and reproducible work, and hand over cleanly at the end of the contract.\nWe are building an agentic operating model. Agents automatically inspect issues, correlate signals, and propose remediations, with a human reviewing and confirming before anything is applied. We want someone who is energised by this way of working and who wants to help shape it, while bringing the judgement to know when an agent’s suggestion is wrong.\nKey Responsibilities:\nObservability and incident response (primary focus)\nDesign and build observability across Ventures environments, including logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.\nDefine meaningful service level indicators and alert thresholds so that teams are paged on real problems rather than noise.\nLead and improve incident response practice, including triage, escalation paths, on-call rotation, and runbooks.\nRun post-incident reviews and drive the follow-up actions that come out of them.\nGive product engineering teams the visibility they need to diagnose issues in their own services.\nCloud cost and governance\nEstablish visibility of cloud spend across Ventures projects in AWS and GCP.\nIdentify and implement cost efficiency improvements, and set up guardrails to prevent regressions.\nDefine and enforce tagging, account, and resource conventions so that spend and ownership are attributable.\nReport on cost trends and forecast implications for engineering leadership.\nSecurity posture\nReview and improve secrets management, IAM and least-privilege access, and network configuration.\nWork with EA security and platform teams to align Ventures infrastructure with internal standards.\nSurface and help remediate infrastructure security risks across projects.\nAgentic operations\nBuild and refine agentic workflows that automatically inspect incidents, correlate telemetry, and propose remediations for human confirmation.\nMake our systems legible to agents, including structured telemetry, machine-readable runbooks, and well-scoped tooling.\nReview agent-proposed actions and remain accountable for what gets applied, treating suggestions as input rather than answers.\nTrack where agentic workflows perform well and where they do not, and feed that back into how they are designed.\nInfrastructure and delivery support\nSupport the backend and platform team on Terraform and infrastructure as code, contributing modules and improvements where useful.\nSupport and improve existing CI/CD pipelines where they create friction for product teams, without taking over ownership.\nIntegrate with internally provided EA infrastructure and platform services, and work with those teams to unblock delivery.\nDocument your work, including runbooks and operational procedures, to a standard the team can own after the contract ends.\nHow Your Success Will Be Measured:\nCoverage and usefulness of monitoring and alerting across Ventures environments.\nTime to detect, respond to, and resolve incidents, and the quality of post-incident follow-through.\nDemonstrable reduction or better control of cloud spend, with clear attribution by project.\nMeasurable improvements in security posture across Ventures infrastructure.\nReduced operational friction for product engineering teams.\nGrowth in the coverage and accuracy of agentic workflows, and in the confidence the team has in acting on their output.\nQuality of documentation and handover, measured by the team’s ability to operate independently at contract end.\nEffective collaboration with the backend and platform team and with EA platform and security teams.\nWhat You Bring:\n5+ years of professional SRE, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.\nStrong experience implementing observability using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or CloudWatch.\nProven experience running incident response in a production environment, including on-call and post-incident review.\nExperience managing and optimising cloud cost at organisational scale, including tagging and governance practices.\nSolid understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including secrets management, least-privilege access, and network segmentation.\nStrong hands-on AWS experience across compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed services.\nWorking knowledge of GCP, or clear evidence of operating comfortably in a multi-cloud environment.\nPractical Terraform experience, sufficient to contribute confidently to an existing infrastructure as code estate.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.\nExperience with containerisation and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.\nStrong scripting ability in Python, Bash, Go, or similar.\nExperience working alongside internal platform or shared infrastructure teams within a larger organisation.\nHands-on experience using AI coding or operations agents in real work, and a clear view on where they help and where they should not be trusted.\nA track record of joining an existing environment and becoming productive quickly.\nSoft Skills & Values:\nSelf-directed and comfortable making progress with limited ramp-up time.\nPragmatic, with good judgement about what to fix now and what to document and leave.\nGenuinely enthusiastic about agentic workflows, and equally willing to say when an agent has got it wrong.\nComfortable improving systems owned by other teams without stepping on them.\nClear communicator, able to work with engineers and non-technical partners alike.\nWrites things down, and leaves systems easier for others to run than they found them.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nCommitment to inclusivity, trust, and continuous improvement.\n\nAbout Electronic Arts\nWe’re proud to have an extensive portfolio of games and experiences, locations around the world, and opportunities across EA.
