As a member of the operations team, the Login Technician will be responsible for receipt and inspection of samples, recording all client sample information in LIMS, assigning analysis requirements, and generating sample labels. The Login Technician will prioritize and organize samples and workflow, to ensure efficient processing of samples into the lab, in order to meet client demands. The successful candidate will become proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.\nResponsibilities\nReceive samples, and document receipt\nPrioritize samples and workflow to ensure timely progression into the lab to meet client demands\nEnter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels\nDistribute samples to the correct sample storage location\nDetermine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping\nGeneral duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager\nMaintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy\nSkills / Qualifications\nPost-secondary education in chemistry or other science related field, or high school diploma with related experience preferred\nMinimum 1 yr experience in a general service role\nWorking knowledge of laboratory safety preferred\nData entry and computer skills\nPossess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day\nUnderstand what must be completed each work day and take the initiative to complete those tasks properly and in a timely manner - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is\nAbility to re-direct original plan in order to prioritize client samples as required\nAble to work well with others and collaborate with co-workers\nWill be working with gas and oil samples, cylinders\nAbility to identify potential issues with information provided\nStrong ability to prioritize and organize work flow\nPhysical Demands:\nFrequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)\nLifting requirements: lifting 50 lbs. on occasion\nAbility to perform computer based tasks for long periods of time\nAbility to lift 50+lbs periodically using safe lifting techniques\nCompany Overview\nElement is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
