We explore customer and business problems, test new solutions and develop the most promising opportunities towards production and scale. Our projects can be at very different stages of maturity, which means that the problems are not always fully defined and there may not yet be a ready-made backlog or established technical solution.\nOur team brings together software development, product thinking, design, data and business expertise. What we build can directly shape Elisa’s future products and businesses, so our work has both visible impact and real value.\nAbout the job\nAs a Senior Software Developer, you will design, build, test and operate software for new digital products and services. Your work may range from rapid technical experiments and prototypes to production-grade solutions that need to be secure, maintainable and scalable.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nDesigning and implementing new features and services\nTurning unclear problems and ideas into concrete technical solutions\nBuilding rapid experiments and minimum viable products\nDeveloping AI-enabled features and applications\nUsing AI-assisted development tools effectively in your daily work\nEvaluating technical alternatives and making pragmatic architecture decisions\nImproving and maintaining codebases\nPerforming code reviews, testing and test automation\nContributing to deployment, monitoring and other DevOps activities\nCollaborating closely with product, design, business and other technical experts\nHelping the team identify the most valuable next step\nThis is not a role where you will only implement predefined requirements. We expect you to form opinions, propose solutions and constructively challenge ideas when you see a better way forward.\nThe environment requires adaptability. The products, technologies and business contexts may change, and part of the work is learning quickly enough to make good decisions despite uncertainty.\nWhat do we expect from you?\nWe are looking for a strong and versatile software developer. Your expertise may lean towards backend or frontend development, but you should be comfortable contributing across the software development lifecycle.\nWe expect you to have:\nSeveral years of solid experience in modern, production-grade software development\nStrong hands-on programming skills and the ability to independently deliver working software\nPractical experience with generative AI, large language models or AI-enabled application development\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools as part of your software engineering workflow\nThe ability to turn an unclear problem into a concrete experiment, solution or product increment\nSound understanding of software quality, testing, security, maintainability and scalability\nThe ability to assess technical solutions from customer, business, cost and operational perspectives\nA proactive working style and the ability to identify what should be investigated, tested or built next\nWell-founded opinions and the confidence to communicate them constructively\nGood collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment\nThe willingness to learn new technologies, industries and business models\nExperience in building new products, prototypes or minimum viable products is particularly valuable. We also appreciate experience in taking AI-enabled solutions into production, including their evaluation, monitoring, security and responsible use.\nOur working language is English. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.\nTechnologies\nOur technology choices depend on the product and problem we are solving. Technologies commonly used in our environment include:\nTypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, AWS, REST APIs, GraphQL, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL and NoSQL databases, test automation and modern observability tools.\nFor AI-enabled development, relevant experience may include areas such as:\nLarge language model APIs and AI application frameworks\nRetrieval-augmented generation\nAI agents and workflow automation\nModel and solution evaluation\nPrompt and context engineering\nSecure handling of data in AI-enabled applications\nAI-assisted software development tools\nYou do not need to have experience with every technology listed. We value strong software engineering fundamentals, demonstrated ability to learn and the judgment to select appropriate tools for the problem at hand.\nLocation and ways of working\nYour position will be located in Helsinki, and our home base is Elisa’s headquarters in Pasila.\nWe believe face-to-face interaction is important for developing our culture, strengthening collaboration and building a sense of community.
