You’ll use measurements, calculations, and your own judgment to determine how material should be processed while maximizing quality and material efficiency.\nThis is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing, working with industrial equipment, and developing specialized skills in precision metals production.\nWhat You Can Build Here\nBenefits starting Day One, including medical, dental, and vision insurance\n 401(k) with company match\nPaid time off and paid company holidays\nTuition assistance and professional development opportunities\nHands-on experience with specialized slitting, shearing, and leveling equipment\nOpportunities to build skills in precision measurement, equipment setup, and material processing\nExperience working with advanced refractory metals and close-tolerance manufacturing\nA direct role in improving material utilization and supporting production throughout the facility\nCareer development and growth opportunities within Elmet Technologies\nWhat You Will Do\nYou will set up and operate slitting, shearing, and leveling equipment to process finished orders and in-process material used by other manufacturing operations.\nYour work will include:\nSet up the slitter to required dimensions using measurements and conversion calculations\nOperate slitting equipment to process material according to order specifications\nCoil or stack processed material and move it to the appropriate operation\nSet up and operate equipment to level finished orders and in-process material\nShear material according to customer and production specifications\nPlan how orders should be cut to maximize material efficiency\nCheck material gauge and surface condition before processing begins\nVisually inspect finished work and verify that material meets established quality standards\nUse micrometers and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and product quality\nIdentify unacceptable material and communicate concerns to your supervisor or Quality\nMaintain accurate production records and material information\nPerform equipment setups requiring accurate calculations for close-tolerance output\nOperate lift and material-handling equipment to safely move and position material\nPerform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections\nMonitor the condition of slitter knives, spacers, fingers, pads, and other operating components\nCoordinate with supervisors and Maintenance when tooling or equipment requires repair or replacement\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following 6S practices\nSupport other production activities as manufacturing needs require\nRequirements\nAbout You\nYou understand that running production equipment involves more than pushing a button. Good operators understand their material, know what the finished product should look like, make accurate setup decisions, and recognize when something is not right.\nYou may be a strong fit if you bring:\nA high school diploma, GED, or equivalent\nManufacturing or industrial production experience\nStrong basic math skills, including fractions and decimals\nExperience using micrometers or other precision measuring tools\nMechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment\nThe ability to perform accurate calculations for equipment setup and close-tolerance work\nStrong attention to detail and product quality\nThe ability to follow work orders, specifications, and established procedures\nSound judgment when evaluating material and finished product quality\nA commitment to safe work practices and proper equipment operation\nThe ability to work independently while contributing to the broader production team\nOne to two years of experience in a sheet metal, metals manufacturing, or similar industrial environment is a plus.\nDefining Success\nSuccess in this role means producing material accurately and efficiently while protecting quality, equipment, and the value of the material being processed.\nYou will be successful when:\nSlit, sheared, and leveled material consistently meets customer and production specifications\nEquipment setups and calculations produce accurate, close-tolerance results\nMaterial is processed efficiently to maximize usable product and minimize unnecessary scrap\nMaterial gauge and surface quality are verified before processing\nQuality concerns are identified before unacceptable material moves further through production\nProduction records are accurate and complete\nEquipment is operated safely and properly cared for\nPreventive maintenance needs are identified before they become equipment failures\nProcessed material reaches the correct downstream operation when needed\nYour work area remains clean, safe, and organized\nAdditional Tools in Your Toolbox May Include\nPrevious experience in sheet metal or metals manufacturing can help you get up to speed quickly.\nAdditional experience that can help you succeed includes:\nSlitting, shearing, leveling, or metal-forming equipment\nSheet metal or coil processing\nMicrometers and precision measuring equipment\nClose-tolerance manufacturing\nForklifts, lifts, or other material-handling equipment\nEquipment setup and changeovers\nPreventive maintenance and basic equipment troubleshooting\nMaterial optimization and scrap reduction\n6S, Lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement practices\nThis Is Hands-On Manufacturing Work\nThis position works directly with industrial machinery, metal materials, and material-handling equipment on the manufacturing floor.\nYou should be comfortable working around moving machinery, heat, chemicals, and other conditions associated with an active manufacturing environment.
