Through innovation in editorial workflows and publishing technology, we help global research communities discover, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge that advances science and improves lives.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for an Associate Publisher to manage a portfolio of social sciences journals. In this role, you will work closely with editors, editorial boards, societies, and research communities to develop and grow successful journals. You will combine market insight, data analysis, relationship building, and publishing expertise to help shape portfolio strategy and identify new opportunities for growth and innovation.\nResponsibilities\nFollow market developments in publishing and research and identify needs and opportunities for your journals and the communities they serve.\nDevelop portfolio strategies using market knowledge and data analysis to support STMJ objectives and maintain journal competitiveness.\nGrow journal content through portfolio development, acquisitions, and exploration of new content formats, extensions, and channels.\nNegotiate and manage contractual relationships with journal editors.\nManage the editorial fees budget.\nBuild and maintain relationships with editors, editorial boards, research institutes, societies, funding bodies, and other members of the research community.\nContribute to wider STMJ and cross-business projects, including new products, services, business models, and process improvements.\nRequirements\nExperience in publishing, ideally in scholarly journals, is preferable but not essential.\nEvidence of setting goals, achieving them, and making a positive impact on a journal or programme.\nExcellent networking and communication skills in English.\nAbility to adapt to change, manage multiple responsibilities, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively across cultures, locations, and organisational levels.\nA data-driven approach and an interest in how publishing is evolving.\nFinancial and commercial awareness, with an understanding of how journals can develop and grow.\nGood judgment when using AI tools, including knowing when outputs can be relied upon and when they require review.\nEducated to Degree level \nWillingness to travel, on average 2 to 4 trips per year.\nWork in a Way That Works for You\nWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
