Works collaboratively with Product Managers, Architects, QE, SRE/Platform Engineering, and other squads to deliver reliable, secure, observable, and maintainable software solutions.\nThis role requires strong technical expertise, ownership mindset, and collaboration skills.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs\nParticipate actively in Agile ceremonies including refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives\nDeliver high-quality software solutions within agreed timelines\nTroubleshoot and resolve production issues with urgency and ownership\nContribute to production incident response and post-incident improvements\nPerform code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards\nCollaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QE, SRE, and other squads to deliver business value\nDrive proactive maintenance and technical debt reduction initiatives\nImprove application reliability, performance, scalability, and security\nDocument technical designs, decisions, and operational procedures when necessary\nContribute reusable engineering solutions that benefit Scopus teams broadly\nRequirements\nExpertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD)\nStrong expertise in Java backend development\nOpenness to learn and contribute using new technologies when required\nStrong understanding of API and service development principles\nExperience designing and implementing scalable and resilient backend services\nStrong knowledge of data structures and algorithms\nStrong knowledge of agentic programming\nUnderstanding of software architecture and design principles\nStrong debugging and problem-solving capabilities\nAbility to write clean, maintainable, and testable code\nUnderstanding of concurrency, resiliency, and performance optimization concepts\nStrong understanding of testing strategies including unit testing, mocking, and integration testing\nExperience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines\nExperience conducting code reviews and maintaining engineering quality standards\nGood understanding of relational databases and database management tasks\nExperience writing optimized SQL queries\nUnderstanding of database performance tuning and indexing concepts\nQUALIFICATIONS\n4+ years of experience in backend software engineering building and supporting production systems\nStrong hands-on experience developing scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Framework\nDemonstrated experience working within Agile development environments\nExperience collaborating across cross-functional teams and stakeholders\nBS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience\nExperience contributing to production support, incident resolution, and operational improvements\nExperience mentoring or supporting junior engineers is preferred\nWork in a Way That Works for You\nWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
