The team develops products and capabilities that support researchers, reviewers, and editors throughout the submission and peer review journey, helping improve the overall scientific publishing experience.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Software Engineer, you will help design, develop, and deploy applications within a cloud-hosted distributed environment that powers next-generation products. Working closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional Agile and DevOps teams, you will contribute to technical solutions, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help deliver high-quality software that creates value for customers.\nResponsibilities\nDesigning, developing and deploying applications in a cloud-hosted distributed system to build our next-generation product\nCollaborating with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback in a fast-moving environment\nProviding input into architectural decisions to ensure stability and performance\nIdentifying and implementing enhancements to continually improve our delivery process\nPartnering with cross-functional Agile and DevOps implementation teams\nRequirements\nDemonstrate some proficiency in some of these technologies; JavaScript / TypeScript, Frontend frameworks, Java/SpringBoot, SQL with a willingness to learn the others.\nDisplay some experience with build tools, Git and continuous integration\nEnjoy collaborating with team members to create innovative solutions\nHave some experience of supporting and mentoring team members to share knowledge and up-skill team members\nShow some experience with alerting, monitoring and logging tools\nHave experience with a modern IDE and proficiency in using the refactoring tools\nBe open to discussing and honing approaches for our team to improve our working practices\nHave some experience of test-driven development and mocking libraries\nHave some real-world experience of Agile practices and execution\nHave some experience of designing and developing for cloud environments\nBe familiar with AI coding tools\nBe familiar with how to design and develop for cloud environments (i.e. docker, Kubernetes, AWS)\nSome experience of Agentic software development is desired\nWanting to learn or have experience with AI based solutions\nBe eager to learn and grow my skills and experience\nBe aware of industry best practices and standards\nWork in a Way That Works for You\nWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
