The team develops products and capabilities that support researchers, reviewers, and editors throughout the submission and peer review journey, helping improve the overall scientific publishing experience.\nJoin our Software Engineering Team\nOur dynamic Agile Teams deliver the technology which facilitates researchers bringing their work to the world via trusted journals through peer-review.\nAbout the Role:\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will build capabilities to support scientific researchers through the process of submitting the research for publication and undertaking peer-reviews others work. We are continually evolving our technology in response to researchers’ needs and to the ever-changing technical landscape, including the use of AI technologies.\nResponsibilities\nDesigning, developing and deploying applications in a cloud-hosted distributed system to build our next-generation product\nCollaborating with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback in a fast-moving environment\nProviding input into architectural decisions to ensure stability and performance\nIdentifying and implementing enhancements to continually improve our delivery process\nPartnering with cross-functional Agile and DevOps implementation teams\nRequirements\nDemonstrate some proficiency in most of these technologies; JavaScript / TypeScript, Frontend framework Java/SpringBoot, SQL with a willingness to learn the others.\nDisplay some experience with build tools, Git and continuous integration\nEnjoy collaborating with team members to create innovative solutions\nHave experience of supporting and mentoring team members to share knowledge and up-skill team members\nDemonstrate experience with alerting, monitoring and logging tools\nHave experience with a modern IDE and proficiency in using the refactoring tools\nBe open to discussing and honing approaches for our team to improve our working practices\nBe experienced in test-driven development and mocking libraries\nHave real world experience of Agile practices and execution\nBe capable in designing and developing for cloud environments\nBe familiar with AI coding tools\nBe familiar with how to design and develop for cloud environments (i.e. docker, Kubernetes, AWS)\nBe familiar with AI coding tools (copilot, claude, codex, antigravity)\nSome experience of Agentic software development is desired\nBe eager to learn and grow my skills and experience \nChampion industry best practices and standards\nSome exposure to Devops and Infrastructure as Code\nWork in a Way That Works for You\nWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
