Database Analysis & Data Mapping\nAnalyze source database schemas from a variety of relational and legacy database systems.\nUnderstand table structures, relationships, constraints, data types, and dependencies.\nMap source data structures to target database schemas, including PostgreSQL and legacy database platforms.\nIdentify data inconsistencies, missing values, duplicates, and potential migration challenges.\nTranslate documented business requirements into technical mapping and transformation rules.\nWork with internal stakeholders to clarify mapping requirements and resolve technical gaps.\n2. Data Transformation & Migration Development\nDevelop and maintain SQL queries, scripts, and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data across different database platforms.\nLearn, maintain, and enhance existing SQL-based staging and conversion processes used for external system data migrations.\nBuild reusable transformation scripts and migration utilities using SQL, Python, or other appropriate technologies.\nHandle complex transformations involving multiple tables, relationships, data formats, and business rules.\nImplement data validation, reconciliation, error handling, and logging.\nTroubleshoot migration failures, performance issues, and data discrepancies.\nOptimize migration processes for large datasets and complex database structures.\n3. AI-Assisted Development & Automation\nActively leverage AI coding assistants to improve the speed and efficiency of data mapping, transformation, and migration development.\nUse AI tools to assist with source schema analysis, SQL generation, Python scripting, debugging, and documentation.\nIndependently review, validate, and optimize AI-generated code before execution.\nIdentify opportunities to automate repetitive mapping, validation, and migration activities.\nContribute to building reusable AI-assisted migration workflows and internal tools.\nFollow company data security policies, ensuring customer data is not exposed to unauthorized external AI services.\n4. Testing, Validation & Data Quality\nPerform data profiling and quality assessments before migration.\nValidate transformed data against source records and documented business rules.\nDevelop reconciliation queries to verify record counts, relationships, financial values, and data integrity.\nIdentify and resolve data conversion errors before production migration.\nSupport test migrations, production migrations, and post-migration verification.\nEnsure migration processes are accurate, repeatable, and recoverable.\n5. Collaboration & Documentation\nWork with the customer-facing implementation team to receive source schemas, requirements, and business rules.\nCollaborate with engineering and database teams to understand destination database structures and conversion requirements.\nDocument source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, scripts, assumptions, and validation procedures.\nMaintain reusable migration scripts and technical documentation in version control.\nSupport troubleshooting and continuous improvement of existing migration processes.\nReduce dependency on individual team members by creating standardized and well-documented migration solutions.\nRequirements\n4-7 years of hands-on experience in database development, data migration, ETL, or data integration.\nStrong proficiency in SQL, including complex joins, subqueries, stored procedures, and query optimization.\nPractical experience with PostgreSQL.\nExperience working with at least two other database systems, such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, or legacy relational databases.\nExperience analyzing unfamiliar database schemas and identifying relationships between tables.\nHands-on experience developing data transformation and migration scripts using Python and SQL.\nExperience handling large datasets, data quality issues, and complex business transformation rules.\nFamiliarity with ETL concepts, data validation, reconciliation, and migration best practices.\nExperience using AI-assisted coding tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.\nAbility to independently evaluate and correct AI-generated SQL and scripts.\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nGood written communication and technical documentation skills.\nAbility to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with distributed teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with Advantage Database Server (ADS) is a plus, but not required.\nExperience with SQL-based staging databases and intermediate data transformation processes.\nExperience building reusable ETL frameworks or automated migration utilities.\nFamiliarity with database connectivity technologies such as ODBC and JDBC.\nExperience with AI-assisted workflow automation and scripting.\nKnowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, indexing, and bulk-loading techniques.\nBenefits\nCompetitive salary
