Our fully integrated shop services include state-of-the-art technologies, engineering, design, manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and repair.\nJob Summary\nOhmstede Ltd is seeking an individual to fit and tack all shell and tube heat exchanger components and assemblies for fabrication by welders. The ability to read and understand fabrication drawings. Able to measure, layout, and prep all welded connections on the exchanger. This position will require a good understanding of metal fabrication practices, heat effects, metal shrinkage and growth based on heat input in the welding process. The use of oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, arc gouging, grinders along with other tools and techniques required to fit metal items together is required. SMAW and GTAW processes will be utilized.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nLay-out, fit-up, burn, arc gouge, plasma cut, grind and weld as necessary to form components to meet required finish dimensions. This may require length adjustment based on material.\nPrepare cutouts as necessary to meet drawing weld bevel requirements and standards. \n Grind weld material left by knock-offs as required to clean the part to standards.\nSet up and performs jobs based on engineering drawings, shop practices, and procedures.\n Perform internal quality check using appropriate measuring gauges and experience.\n Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, following EHS requirements relating to PPE and Safe Working Practices.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nKnowledge - H.S. diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience, knowledge of fitting/welding procedures.\nSkills - Must read and write English language in order to read weld procedures and fabrication drawings and requirements.\nMust be able to pass ASME welding test and have understanding and comprehension of the application of algebra and geometry.\nHeat Exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience preferred\nPhysical Demands\nRequired Tools - Hood, gloves, tape, square & center head, approved level, center punch, dividers, hammer, adequate tool box.\nOptional Tools- More advanced professional layout tools.\nWork Environment\nNoisy, cold, hot, dusty, requires 50 lb. lifting ability, climb, stoop, bend, reach, squat, work in unusual positions, exposed to welding fumes, and exposed to normal shop hazards.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAs a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure, we offer employees a competitive salary and benefits package and we are always looking for individuals with the talent and skills required to contribute to our continued growth and success.
