Our experience encompasses commercial, government, institutional, and industrial clients, and we also specialize in developing creative solutions that meet the unique demands of mission-critical projects.\nJob Summary\nCentral Mechanical Construction is seeking an experienced, full-time HVAC Service Technician to perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, as well as troubleshoot and service commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate is well organized, maintains accurate service and maintenance records, and communicates effectively with customers and team members. This role requires leadership, strong customer relationships, and team-building skills. As a 24/7 service company, regular work beyond 40 hours per week may be required.\nOffice Locations\nApply for and work out of any of the following office locations:\nManhattan\nTopeka\nEmporia\nClay Center\n#Central#LI-NS1\n#LI-Onsite\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nHVAC Maintenance & Repair\nPerform comprehensive preventative maintenance on standard package and split-system HVAC units, including: \nInspecting and replacing belts and pulleys\nInspecting and cleaning condensate drain lines\nTesting compressors, fan motors, and blower motors\nTesting burner/heat exchanger safety and operation\nVerifying proper function of all operational and safety controls\nDiagnose and repair airflow and ducting issues.\nPerform general repairs on steam and hot-water boiler systems.\nHandle refrigerants safely, efficiently, and in compliance with EPA standards.\nDiagnose and repair common mechanical, electrical, and system failures, including:belts, pulleys, compressors, condensing units, circuit boards, contactors, leaks, and copper component brazing/un-sweating.\nGeneral Maintenance\nPerform basic plumbing tasks such as clearing drains, repairing leaks, and replacing fixtures.\nPerform minor electrical tasks allowed without a license under state regulations.\nComplete service and asset inspections as needed.\nOperational Responsibilities\nComplete work orders, documenting all findings and work performed.\nUse company technology (tablet, smartphone) for work management.\nPrepare Service Reports and Quality Inspection images as required.\nSubmit timesheets, expenses, and purchase card logs.\nMaintain timely and consistent communication with customers and internal teams.\nProvide estimates for larger repairs or projects.\nAttend required safety training and weekly safety meetings.\nPerform additional duties as assigned.\n#Central#LI-NS1\n#LI-Onsite\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or degree/certification preferred in Trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.) or equivalent experience.\nMinimum 5 years of HVAC/general maintenance experience (electrical, plumbing, carpentry) or equivalent combination of training and experience.\nAbility to read and interpret instructions, safety policies, and procedure manuals.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nProficiency with handheld devices and business software (e.g., Microsoft Office).\nKnowledge of and compliance with all applicable codes, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.\nExperience installing, maintaining, and repairing building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).\nAbility to travel locally between client sites daily.\nLicenses & Certifications\nEPA Universal Certification required.\nValid driver’s license in good standing.\nJourneyman or Master Mechanical License preferred but not required.\n\n#Central#LI-NS1\n#LI-Onsite\nPhysical Demands\nRegularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, kneel, crawl, and communicate.\nMust be able to climb or balance.\nMust regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs.\nAbility to work from heights as required. \nBenefits\nAs a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure, EMCOR Group offers:\nCompany Vehicle\nDispatched from House\nSpecialty Tools Provided\nPension\nPaid Uniforms\nBonus Opportunities\nPaid Time Off\nPaid Holidays \nMedical, dental, and vision coverage\nFlexible spending accounts\nLife and disability insurance\n401(k) savings plans\nEmployee assistance and wellness programs\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAs a leading provider of mechanicaland electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure,we offer employess a competitive salary and benefits package and we are always looking for individuals with the talent and skills required to contribute to our continued growth and sucess.
