Comunale Co., Inc. is looking for a Fire Sprinkler Layout Technician to join our growing full-service mechanical and fire protection team. This is a highly specialized role with strong demand across our projects.\nWe’re interested in experienced technicians ready to take on large, complex work. Flexible work arrangements (on-site, hybrid, or remote) and locations are available depending on experience and qualifications.\nWork within NFPA, building, and underwritten standards to create and layout fire sprinkler systems with support of the Senior Layout Manager. Collaborate with S.A. Comunale, sales, fabrication and project manager teams while provide excellent customer service as required. Our technicians see the full lifecycle of projects-from digital design to fabrication and on-site installation-not something every fire protection company can offer.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nPrimary duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\nConsistently and professionally completes all design work in a manner which displays mastery of the following:\nAbility to complete a sprinkler layout as detailed in most current NFPA standards.\nAbility to identify the type of hazard and the appropriate protection for it from contract documents\nFamiliarity with a project budget and ability to work within budget.\nAbility to coordinate work with other trades on complex projects.\nAbility to understand and resolve coordination problems.\nAbility to cut and tag, pipe with all appropriate fittings for fabrication and purchasing.\nAbility to select all required materials for installation.\nAbility to operate present version of either AutoCAD and Hydratec or AutoSPRINK layout programs\nAbility to run Navis Works and develop clash reports.\nAbility to correctly estimate and schedule hours for a project. \nAbility to meet industry quality standards in producing drawings, hydraulic calculations, material take offs and material submittals for a project.\nAbility to correctly complete project paperwork for Comunale internal processes, AHJ approval or certification and GC requirements \nAbility to identify contract work vs. non-contract work and alert appropriate personnel in writing.\nAbility to troubleshoot and identify potential problems before they manifest.\nAbility to understand, carry out and communicate about all project tasks.\nCommunicate in face-to-face meetings with customers in a way that provides the company and the customer with accurate, thorough information about a job, and that leaves the customer with a positive impression of our company and our service.\nMust have knowledge and understanding of all applicable fire codes, such as NFPA 13, 14, 20, 22, 24 and others.\nMust possess ability and motivation to teach Trainees and Junior Designers in mastering all responsibilities listed above.\nMay be responsible for taking on role as project leader and must direct other team members in completing projects efficiently and accurately. As project leader, responsible for giving regular, complete, and professional status reports information to Manager.\nWorks to achieve company’s annual objectives and to achieve personal performance goals.\nOperates at all times in compliance with the company’s safety practices.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.\nQualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
