Our offerings include commercial MEP solutions, sheet metal construction, preventive maintenance and service, building automation, energy management, and more.\nJob Summary\nAir Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled Union HVAC Controls Technician to install, service, and maintain building automation and HVAC control systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role focuses on ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort while adhering to union standards and safety practices.\nApplicants must be current members of a UA Local or SMART Local.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nInstall, troubleshoot, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls (DDC systems).\nDiagnose and repair control system issues, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication networks.\nPerform system programming, commissioning, and point-to-point verification.\nInterpret control drawings, schematics, and sequence of operations.\nWork on systems from major manufacturers (e.g., ALC, Distech, Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, Honeywell, Schneider Electric).\nCoordinate with HVAC technicians, electricians, and facility teams to complete projects.\nCalibrate and test instrumentation for accuracy and compliance.\nDocument service activities, system changes, and maintenance reports.\nFollow union work rules, safety protocols, and site-specific requirements.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. \nQualifications\nActive membership to a recognized HVAC/controls union.\n6+ years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation systems.\nStrong understanding of:\nDDC controls\nBACnet, Modbus, or ARCnet protocols\nElectrical systems and low-voltage wiring\nAbility to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.\nExperience with system programming and commissioning preferred.\nValid driver’s license\nPreferred Skills\nOEM factory certifications (ALC, Niagara, Distech, JCI, Siemens, etc.)\nExperience in mission-critical environments (labs, data centers, hospitals)\nKnowledge of energy management and optimization strategies\nStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills\nWork Environment\nCommercial buildings, campuses, and industrial facilities\nCombination of indoor mechanical rooms and field work\nOccasional after-hours or emergency service\nBenefits\nCompensation & Union Benefits\nCompetitive union wages ranging from $30 - $90 per hour, based on applicable union pay scales.\nBenefits, including health coverage, retirement, and paid time off, are provided through the applicable union in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.\nOpportunities for ongoing training, certifications, and career advancement through union-sponsored programs.\nWork Environment & Perks\nAccess to on-site amenities, including an employee gym, EV charging stations, and bike commuter options (where available).\nA collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on safety, quality, and craftsmanship.\nThis is a union position.
