We’ve been in business for over 50 years, and every day, we’re looking for new and more innovative ways to provide better service to our customers and grow our business.\nJob Summary\nEmerald Transformer is seeking a Field Service Technician to test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair transformers and related power distribution equipment at customer locations. This hands-on position works with high, medium, and low voltage systems and specialized electrical testing equipment. The role requires frequent travel, including overnight stays, and availability for overtime, weekends, call-in assignments, and emergency customer response. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, dependable, and committed to quality work and professional customer service.\nKey Responsibilities\nTest, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair transformers, voltage regulators, circuit breakers, protective relays, switchgear, instrument transformers, and related power distribution equipment.\nConduct diagnostic testing on high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical systems.\nRead and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test results.\nPrepare accurate technical reports documenting testing, maintenance, repairs, and equipment conditions.\nSafely use hand tools, pneumatic tools, cutting torches, and specialized electrical test equipment.\nOperate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment after completing required training.\nFollow company safety and environmental procedures, customer-site requirements, and personal protective equipment standards.\nProperly handle and dispose of oils, solvents, and other chemicals used during service work.\nMaintain assigned tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.\nTravel throughout the Emerald Transformer service territory, including overnight and extended stays.\nWork overtime, evenings, weekends, call-in assignments, and emergency response hours when required.\nWork effectively with customers, field crews, facility associates, and other Emerald Transformer operations.\nPerform facility-based work when field assignments are unavailable.\nMinimum Requirements\nEducation/Certifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nValid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.\nAbility to complete required safety, equipment, material-handling, crane, and respirator training.\nExperience\nExperience testing, maintaining, or repairing transformers or related electrical distribution equipment is preferred.\nExperience with electrical test equipment, including TTR, Megger, winding resistance, power factor, relay, breaker, or high-potential test equipment, is preferred.\nExperience using Omicron or Vanguard Instruments equipment is preferred.\nWelding experience is preferred.\nRelevant electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, utility, military, technical school, or field service experience will also be considered\n Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and written work instructions.\nAbility to safely use hand tools, test equipment, and material-handling equipment.\nStrong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and troubleshooting ability.\nAbility to accurately document test results and completed work.\nEffective teamwork, communication, and customer-service skills.\nAbility and willingness to travel frequently and work a flexible schedule.\nAbility to perform heavy physical work, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and more than 50 pounds frequently.\nAbility to work indoors and outdoors around electrical equipment, moving machinery, chemicals, oils, elevated work areas, and extreme
