This position partners with facility and corporate leadership to translate regulatory requirements and company expectations into practical processes that protect employees and support reliable operations. The Safety Manager conducts inspections and audits, delivers training, investigates incidents and near misses, and oversees corrective and preventive actions through completion. Success in this position requires a visible presence in the facilities, strong partnership with operations, and the ability to promote a consistent, prevention-focused safety culture across multiple locations.\nKey Responsibilities\nImplement, maintain, and continuously improve company safety programs in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, industry best practices, and Emerald Transformer policies.\nPartner with facility leaders, supervisors, and employees to integrate safe work practices into manufacturing operations, maintenance activities, and operational decision-making.\nConduct routine facility inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards, evaluate existing controls, document findings, and verify the timely completion of corrective actions.\nMonitor regulatory and industry developments and recommend updates to safety programs, procedures, training, and controls.\nDevelop, coordinate, and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and leaders, including new-hire orientation, refresher training, and job-specific instruction.\nMaintain applicable training records and help ensure employees receive required safety instruction within established timeframes.\nCoordinate emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response procedures, and communication with facility teams, emergency services, and other relevant authorities.\nMaintain and support emergency response plans and procedures for Emerald Transformer facilities.\nLead or support investigations involving injuries, incidents, property damage, spills, and near misses.\nApply structured root-cause analysis methods to identify contributing factors and underlying causes.\nDevelop corrective and preventive action plans, assign clear ownership, track progress, and verify that completed actions effectively reduce risk.\nMaintain accurate and organized records related to training, inspections, audits, incidents, corrective actions, and other safety activities.\nAnalyze safety data, incident trends, audit findings, and leading indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.\nPrepare and present reports, recommendations, and safety performance updates to facility and corporate leadership.\nPromote employee participation, open reporting, accountability, and continuous improvement to strengthen Emerald Transformer’s safety culture.\nBuild credibility on the plant floor by maintaining a regular presence, listening to employee concerns, and providing practical safety guidance.\nSupport environmental, material-handling, and waste-handling requirements that intersect with employee health and safety.\nReinforce the proper selection, use, care, and storage of required personal protective equipment.\nCollaborate with leadership to ensure safety considerations are incorporated into changes involving processes, equipment, work areas, and operating procedures.\nTravel regularly among Emerald Transformer locations, up to 60%, to provide hands-on support, coaching, training, and program oversight.\nAdjust work hours when necessary to support facility operations, training activities, emergency response, or incident investigations.\nParticipate in company-directed safety training and certification programs.\nMinimum Requirements\n Education/Certifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nBachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field highly preferred.\nOSHA 30-Hour General Industry training or equivalent safety education preferred.\nAssociate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), or another relevant safety credential preferred.\nExperience\nAt least three years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or a comparable work environment preferred.\nExperience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.\nExperience developing and delivering safety training to employees, supervisors, and leaders.\nExperience investigating injuries, incidents, property damage, spills, and near misses.\nExperience performing root-cause analysis and managing corrective and preventive actions through completion.\nExperience interpreting and applying occupational safety regulations and company requirements within an operating facility.\nExperience supporting multiple facilities or geographically dispersed operations preferred.\n Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nWorking knowledge of applicable occupational safety requirements, industry standards, and practical risk-control methods in a manufacturing environment.\nKnowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, hierarchy-of-controls principles, incident investigation, and corrective-action management.\nAbility to establish credibility and maintain productive working relationships with employees, supervisors, facility leaders, and corporate stakeholders.\nAbility to translate regulatory and technical requirements into practical procedures and expectations that can be understood and followed on the plant floor.\nDemonstrated independent decision-making, sound judgment, and practical problem-solving ability.\nStrong investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective-action management, and follow-through
